essentially, this is from MW2, and it worked just about perfect. Usually, you would have your 'target' visible in the lower left hand side with a 3d wireframe showing orientation;

the simple fix; Just do this, but for your OWN mech. BAM, ZOOM, BANG, noob's are taken care of and vets can turn it off if they don't like it.

make it a 3d wireframe if you think rendering will be an issue. NO PROBS.

They did that in MechWarrior 3 as well.

Monkey, I think you're on to something.

People could target themselves, and stare at their mech in the little window. After done wanking it, they can finally be an asset to their team after knowing how good their 'mech looks.

No but seriously this is probably the best and simplest solution.

Just make your 'health' paperdoll be cyclable. Hit ] (or something) and it will cycle through the paper doll, 3d model, and bar healths.

I would much rather have this as a "fix" than 3rd person view! Good idea man. But I'm gonna trust in PGI, hoping that they've already thought of this and found something wrong with the idea.... just being optimistic with PGI so I can sleep better at night lol. ------- I dread 3rd person in MWO :/

Additionally ; have it only able to show your own mech, then get a module to let you see your target's orientation. I notice there is a conspiculously empty module section in mechlab this would be perfect for; knowing the behavior of your enemy as you close on him is invaluable!

This was mentioned like gazillion times in both topics with regard to 3rd person view. Voting one and in official one. I've mentioned it as well early on.

Absolutely. Gave my 2c in a different thread on the same topic. Summary:

1. Show off that hard earned camo to the person it matters most, the PLAYER.
2. Simple wireframe highlights/shading show damage very clearly, plus mech torso movement on an intuitive level.

DO THIS!

Have you ever played MW4 Mercs by chance? Did you happen to notice the button in the mech controls called "auto center torso"? That would be the button you hit if you wanted your legs to automatically follow your torso all game long until you turned it off. This is all that's needed and the coding for it would be much less. Its a very easy fix

Yes I did, and that is a good idea, but a lot of people have trouble with thinking 'my legs are this way and my torso is that way' in a video game (one of my friends I tried to get to play constantly found himself running into hills even after pointing out the existing indicator and the torso to legs button). This provides an actual visual indicator, and is probably more effective as a new player wouldn't A: know there is a button for that and B: be able to tell when they need to hit it.
