look less like a bird... more like a canine

but if this thing could do the justice as the classic raven everybody loves, I have no objection

I actually think the above quote nails it on the head. If you take a look at the 'beak,' it definitely appears more 'snoutish.' Perhaps a strange way to put it, but I would switch the designs of the feet and the post-cockpit. The entire implementation is amazing (what would a first-post be without the necessary brown-nosing to the developers), but the design itself differs 'just' enough from the traditional Raven design to cause some discontent.

I think an excellent compromise would be, as suggested, switching the design of the 'toes' with the 'beak.' Honestly, although many people say they "do" like the current design, such a compromise would cater to almost all, leaving the most important designs intact while simply altering the visuals to a more aqualine style.

Hmm...

I've never been fond of the Raven, despite its namesake having long ago been adopted as my, er, 'mascot'. I appreciate its usefulness as a scout 'Mech and electronic warfare platform, but I have never liked its design. Too few guns and... rather cartoonish looking.

But, the new Raven has a very utilitarian look to it. The designers took some very obvious cues from modern day attack, 'observation', and stealthy helos. I still don't like it, but I respect its appearance. If that makes any sense.

In other words, it looks like what it is, now.

I agree. Does not have to be curved either... just angled downward slightly and i will be a happy camper.

I was never much of a fan of the original design... there I said it, sorry. It's just this one is much better, it looks like a proper functional vehicle.

With that nose It looks like a Russian Mil Mi-28N or KA-50 Attack Helicopter. Overall I approve.

You can't improve on perfection.
That being said, the DEVs did a great job on this. The nose actually makes me think of fighter jets, where depending on the set up, some of them would have restructured nose cones to make room for better electronic components. I think it'd be cool if depending on what Raven varient you get there's different nose cones; base model is more blunt whereas a ECM varient might be longer and with an extra camera or two. That sort of thing.

But... it DOES angle downward slightly. If you can't see it from the concept art, wait until they show the ISO and then you'll notice it.

Also... shaping mechs to be like animals is stupid. Let's not get in to Protomech territory here.

Love the new design, but never much liked the Mech itself. On tabletop CBT, I always found ECM's and BAP's too hard to work with and very time consuming so they never got used. Most of my players were all about guns, lasers and more guns and lasers. In game though, it should be a fun mech with some decent firepower and all the electronic gadgets a scout could ask for.

Still think the "nose" is a little odd but it's not a big deal. It really looks like a military machine now so of course I love it.

Have to say that looking at some of the art work for the released Mech's gives me hope that the Project Phoenix Mech's may see new life in this Mechwarrior game. As the only legal issue with the Unseen is the visual art being owned by other companies the names them selves are Battletech names. I am really enjoying the new look and feel they are giving the series.

So far I've liked all of FD's redesigns. They're more realistic and military looking and convince me that some of the cheeseball looking mechs from the 3025-3050 TROs might be redeemable.
