The ironic thing here is that the redesigned Raven actually looks much more like a real raven (the bird) then previous curvier iterations did. Look at the beak, specifically:

I'm a Raven fan, when i saw it was the Raven I was delighted,, but when I looked at it I was on the 'Hmmmm' side of approval. The traditional Raven looked like it was designed by an Italian sports car manufacturer rather than a military company. This new design is nice, yes a few of the old curves wouldn't go amiss but that's a minor thing. Overall it looks good, is ti the Raven of old? no, but this isn't the Mechwarrior of old.

More Curves - http://en.wikipedia....e_Mk_XVI_NR.jpg

Less Curves - http://wallpaperstoc...1024x768_1.html

Which do you prefer?

Hmmm.no matter how you draw it it will look good.everyone's opinion is different. But what about practical implications.proposed design will have a blind spot at 3;o clock.2 guns in the way

So to look right i will have to ( A ) rotate the cockpit,or( B ) turn the whole Mech to see who's flanking me.
taking time and possibly getting me killed.
MWO is going to be a strategical game.not a open faced shooter

Thats my take.Burn me if you want....
PS i got the bigger Mech! Good luck

The new raven makes it look more like a military vehicle. Despite some posts in this thread talking about stealth, curves, angles etc, I feel the new raven actually looks like something you'd see on the battlefield.

I say this as a huge raven fan (see my sig).

I thin the canopy should be bigger. It is a scout/recon mech, the pilot needs to be able to see. Yes he/she has scanners/electronics suite. Not the less "eyes on" should always be an option for the pilot.

just my .02

eeeh... the new design's front head is blunt. still looks like a hound or Anubis' face

FD spent a lot of time creating a true-to-intent iconic Mech, the Atlas. He didn't scrap the head for something more "military-looking", because the Atlas was designed to look like a killer.

Many designs here are incredible. I love the Awesome, it's also true to spec. The Centurion is workable, too. The Catapult? Glorious!

The Raven fails. FD ripped out the one iconic feature of the Raven (read the books, folks, reading isn't a painful thing), and left in everything else, generally. This thing isn't a Raven. It's a Dog-Locust-Thing with a great scouty loadout. You would pilot it for its role, not because it reminds you of kicking Cappie butt and taking their toys. It's not a Raven, any more than an Atlas with a properly-designed cockpit would still be an Atlas.

It really doesn't matter to me as long as I get a Mechwarrior game, although it reminds me of a more of a Jackal than a bird.

It looks great, though the Raven is one of the few mechs I actually enjoyed the original concept of. I feel like its side torsos should be wider in FD's new art, but it still looks awesome so there's nothing to complain about.

Edit - But with that said, it may just be the angle at which we're looking at the Raven in the concept art. I can't really tell if it's a thin little beak all the way back or if it's actually a little wider than the art would first give you the impression of.

I know I said it doesn't look like a Raven in a previous post BUT I would like to withdraw that statement and wait until I see the mech in the "flesh" (in game).
The reason I say this is because I have just looked at the pics of the Catapult and was blown away by how good it looks!
Hopefully we will be able to see more of the 'mechs like this then I can actually say "yay" or "nay" on if I like them.

people who thing curves equates to stealth are idiots. the only curved stealthy vehicles are those from poorly researched science fiction films and pulp comics and poorly written action oriented rpg games.

real stealth vehicles have very angular shapes. f-117, sea shadow, f-22, b-2, etc. though the b2 has slight curves for lift and aerodynamic reasons.
