People are rehashing some of this like a new wheel, so I thought I would dig it up

Given the state of the game, they are three years away from giving a **** about in-game units.
This should be lower priority than joystick support.
There is no meta game so there's no purpose for units.
There's not even a well thought-through matchmaker.
There's not enough maps to create immersion for a meta-game.
There's 30 man years of work more important than these features, sorry.
We can manage units on our own for the time being.

I have seen "ONE" Non founder in this thread other than myself.. (Mods don't count)
.
I think "NEW" players shouldn't vote "UNTIL" they understand what they are voting for... I have already talked to someone that voted, explained why they voted that way, only to find out they hadn't a clue what they clicked, and what it would limit in terms of gamepley for certain individuals... "facepalm"

Absolutely, unit play, and by inference more roleplay aspect is a must for a BT game.
12 months ago 6 of us got together and created a unit specifically for this game. We created a unique history, events, timeline, ranks, roles, training Acedemy, artwork and more. It has grown beyond our wildest dreams and the comeraderie is easily the best thing about MWO.
That unit now numbers more than 400 members.
We cannot wait until CW comes into this game.

If you will notice there is a specific choice for new players that want to play the full game without needing any interaction with units.
