Any other pilots here colorblind? Are you finding it harder and harder to see?

I have Deuteranopia. It's not that common, but it's not uncommon either.

With each update to the graphics, it's getting harder and harder to see. I've been completely disinterested lately in playing. The old graphics engine with the useless night vision, but very useful heat vision, was perfect for me. It sucked having to see everything in only blue but at least I could make out enemies.

Now, all vision modes make it difficult to see. The green/yellow filter used on everything in Caustic is getting ridiculous. The yellow haze in the lower city (7 line one) in River city is bad as well. If I knew that it wasn't on purpose, I might be offended.

The difference in the armor status hud screen is really bad as well. I have no idea from orange to green (save the nominal green) how my armor or internals are doing.

Please Devs, think of accessibility sooner rather then later.

A few good articles/blogs/links on it:

(in before somebody posts an image that colorblind people can't see making fun of colorblind people)

Good lord, the damage displays must be hell for you to read...

Bumping for visibility (heh) again.

I came back and played for two days, and it seems worse but it's probably my imagination as Thermal isn't really a good option anymore. Sure it's all greyscale now, but now there's a huge dropoff.

Welp, I guess I'll try again in another few months.

Classy. Also, I can see yellow on blue. If you're going to be ignorant and not add anything just use normal text.

Yes.
It was a joke. It wasn't actually a suggestion to ostracize colorblind people.

This is my main problem. I really can't tell the armor levels at all.

For me the special visions still help. The heat vision works well for me. Maybe better than the old one in that I can much more easily see terrain/environment detail now.

Also, what are we supposed to see different between your two pictures in your original post with normal vision?

I've been told it's pretty different. It looks basically the same to me so, no idea.

You know, because I have near perfect colour sight, I never think about these things. But now that you've mentioned this, I'm suddenly realizing why certain options are availble in a lot of games, like changing the colours and sometimes even making the whole game look totally psychedelic (because seriously, what other use could it possibly have?).

Now, I'm totally for making the game accesible for the people who need it. Right now, MWO is making me feel like I need it, because I can't see jack s*it either. That's why I tend to fit my mechs for close range. It doesn't matter how steady my hand is when I can't see squat at long distances.

Another thing I've noticed is that the textures and model of mechs disappear on alpine at a certain distance. That is, you can sometimes make out the cockpit, but that's about it.

So I guess what I'm saying is, I support this feature right after they make it so that people without colour blindness can see stuff.

IMO PGI should be focusing on issues like netcode,or the lack of map variety which negatively impact the entire player base not minor issues that impact a tiny fraction of the playerbase. Possibly support for the visially deficient can be added later but in my oppinion there are much mroe pressing issues which need to be addressed first.

The fraction is probably around 1/13, depending on how many MWO players are male. As for "minor", it renders the game unplayable for colourblind people.

Yeah, there's a possibility that around 7% of MWO players suffer from some form of Colour blindness.
Don't mean to sound like a **** here, but Sevaradan is right. PGI should be focusing on things that affect everybody before they start wasting time on things only a small group of people need.

Having said that though, PGI should just make all HUD Elements customizable. Shouldn't be too hard to add that option, right?
This way people can make **** colours that they can personally differentiate on their screens.

I think the distance fog could also be tweaked and removed.

On the viewer's left the base is purple, the flowers are red with green leaves, the lips are red, the hair has an orange tint, there are light blue highlights around the pupils, and the piping around the top is red on yellow.

On the viewer's right, the greens, purples, and blues are a gray tone, and the reds are a slightly different shade of mustard yellow than the original yellow on the doll.

Not color blind, but I can see where you guys would have mad problems with the hud, chat, and other game colors. Sadly, while they have tried some improvements to the client for the color blind I don't expect them to emphasize it.

Hasn't someone come up with software that can mitigate this at the display level? Like color calibrating, but with alteration in mind instead of true reproduction.

Does the level of saturation alter the way things are rendered in your vision? For example, would more fully saturated colors appear as more distinct shades from each other than de-saturated (mw:o) colors?
