I used to get framerates in the high 20's lower 30's even when there was alot of action on screen, now it drops to about 10 or so and is so choppy its impossible to hit with anything other than streaks (which are botched at the moment anyway) I'm running a pretty good machine and never had any problems before this last patch. It is horrible now. Even with everything on the lowest settings. Having extra premium time means nothing if you can't even play the game. I really hope PGI can get its **** together on the 20th and release a patch that doesnt cause more problems than it fixes.

fps? or lag? those are separate issues... if its fps when do you notice it drop? did you delete your shader cache? if your video drivers updated since try rolling them back

FPS drops horrible bad, especially if there are a few enemies on screen. No I havent tried deleting my shader cache, should I do that? My connection is pretty stable most of the time.

I dont know specifically what problem youre having try it though it helped me delete ONLY THE CACHE folder if you delete the shader folder youll balls up your game lol

other than that you may just need to wait for DX11 if your card is 11 compatible

I can hit with LRMs. Gauss and Lasers at that frame rate. I can't reliable hit Jenners at those rates but anything slower Is a good target. I've been playing those rates since I joined *SHRUG*

keeping AA and effects down helps as well you can still keep texture and environment quality up but post processing and the like may be whats slowing you down as well. Troubleshooting is a long process lol

Not completely separate. Laggy and unoptimized servers can either overtax your system or drop your framerate because there's a delay on client-server comminication.

It happens a lot on DayZ too, as an example. Arma II is horrible and the servers need to be reset fairly often. They eventually start slowing down and your framerate will drop to the 5-10 area.

And I'm fairly certain that it's a problem in this game as well, because some days my framerates will be fairly playable around 25-35, and other days they're horrible in the 17~ range. But any time I spectate they're at 35-45. *By the way, this game runs like crap. These are not the framerates I should be getting. Different topic though.

Is there any way you can tell me exactly which folder to delete so I dont delete the wrong one? I'll give it a try.

yup

C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Shaders\Cache <---- that one

you can delete the whole thing it will make a new one once you drop into a match note: textures will take a second (literally like 1 second) to load once you drop in on the first match this is normal

"clearing the cache" regularly also prevents the 4fps bug

Well I deleted it and played a test game, and so far no horrible lag, The most my fps dropped was to about 25 when I was engaging someone, alot better than the 10 I was getting. Thanks for the tip Sarevos.

Ok so not to be a **** but 20 to 30 FPS means you are running a mediocre system at best, that being said, yes try adjusting video settings. You can also look at your drivers. Make sure you are running a good anti-virus/spyware program and run it often. Also look to see if said program has a "GAME MODE" setting, if so use it if not look for a better progam. Also be sure your firewall is not blocking MWO in some way. Another thing you can look at doing is setting your system cache higher and set windows for performance NOT apperance. Last TURN OFF all non essential programs, meaning look at your task bar are there lots of things there? If yes turn them off/close them. You do not need your email, im, etc running to play MWO and they are eating resources.

I have an I7 12 gigs of ram and a gtx 680 and i get 40 fps this is because the game isnt optimized not because my system is bad lol

Well Sarevos I was adressing the OP not you, yet if you want to talk, I run Win7 Ult. 64 bit on a Intel core2 quad 8400 with 4gb ram with a Radeon HD 5670 and get an average low 40's fps. So we both are better off than the OP. good for us. I was suggesting some thing the OP could try to hopefully get him a bit more performance. That is all.

Geforce GTX 550 ti, - video card

AMD fx™ 4100 quad core processor 3.6 - processor

8GB RAM.

Its a decent system, played the game great even on high setting before this last patch. Hell I'm on disability and scraped and scrounged for 400 bucks back in May just to be able to play this game on a good machine instead of the POS systems I always have in the past. so that tells me that its something with the servers or the netcode.

It is. They're dragging down performance.

Im pointing out that current performance is not really linked to our hardware but to the lack of optimization I should be seeing higher fps than 40 on medium settings is my point not that i have better than other people >.>

yes you system seems plenty good, did not know what you had, try some of the things I suggested, might help some, we can see now tht you and Sare both have just as good if not better systems than I do.

i7, 6gb ram and ATI 6700 here.

Comp could be better but definately should run better than it does. Over 50 fps in beginning of matches but in last 2 patches has tendency to drop to around 14 fps even with min settings. And adjusting settings upwards and increasing resolution doesn't affect median fps in any way. FPS in beginning of matches goes around 40 but in fights precisely the same. -.-

And system monitor shows max 70-80% GPU and CPU used even in worst spikes...game booster running and everything not needed turned off. All drivers newest ones so I find it pretty hard not to believe it's the actual code and servers that cause the problem.
