None of those look exactly like the original models, and the names were never contested, so I'd say "Most Likely"

Those as far as i know are not official MWO designs but rather "done in the style of".. can not remember if it was the MWO artist who did them or a fan

FlyingDebris (Alex Iglesias) is the MWO concept artist. http://flyingdebris.deviantart.com/

The t-shirt art is made by Shimmering-Sword, and the shirts offered by NGNG- who are not a part of PGI/IGP, they're a fan site who have collaborated on some media productions.

They're also not the project phoenix reseen art.

Indeed. This is the truth.

Great point! However. Someone is making money on the Unseen/Reseen and are they being cease & desisted by the Not-Named-Company?

That was my first thought, someone's getting a call from the suits.

They may be infringing on IP(Intellectual Property) owned by other companies, but if so they're only making small waves in a big pool. There is a big difference between 'someone making t-shirts with fan art' as opposed to 'an actual company creating and marketing an infringing product in direct competition with the company that owns the rights to said IP'

Yeah.. And add to that the fact that the whole thing is a mess to begin with. I think the reason PGI is unvilling to commit to the "unseen" is the fact that it could potentially be a lot of work down the drain. So it is better to work on stuff that have no risk of ending up on a shelf as opposed to something that might.

Or are they laying the ground work for getting some of the oldies but goodies back in the game. They are sponsoring these shirts. Little stone cause little ripple but eventually become a dam!

I was not aware that PGI/IGP was sponsoring the shirts.. Going by the NGNG guys this is something THEY put together to make money from to keep the podcast alive. The only thing PGI does is endorse the podcast (cheap marketing after all) i have heard nothing about the shirts.

I would like to reiterate that I'd be happy to pay to be able to use the unseen mechs to cover any royalty fee (but they should have their reseen equivalents available for all if so for balance).

If PG are indeed sponsoring these t-shirts, it could be a test balloon. If they are sued over this, only a small amount of money and prior invested work is going to be involved. But if the court clears them and says the artwork does not violate any other IPs, they practically have a green light to use them in the game as well.
