While I am not a nationalistic person, I guess it wouldn't really bother me to see it, I don't have to use it.

However would it actualy fit in with the feel of the game? I am by no means a lore expert, but aren't the nations as we know them, long gone in this games time frame?

As for the house/faction stuff i'ld be more shocked if that isn't added in at some point. Still not sure whch faction I favor though, bah!

I would, but would have to think about how its placed, don't want a giant white cross saying "Aim here!" on my delicate parts :-D

I was picturing something like in Firefall. You can litterally drag it about your mech and have some level of control to make it smaller\larger so that they would fit nicely on smaller and larger mechs alike. This would let you place it somewhere on your mech where it wasn't obscured by the mech design as not all mechs have an appropriate surface on the same spot.

would it be a desireable skin ? would you go into battle proudly bearing the skin of your national flag? id like to be able to have this option open to me would you ?

No, it would be horrible.

No, I wouldn't.

I'd like to not have this option.

Modern flags have no place in MWO.

Next you will probably ask for your nation's football kit as a skin, and the answer will be the same.

National flags? What's a nation? Is that like a house, or is it a FRR thing?

Why would anyone want to stick some flags of long dead nations on their mech?

If there would be flags to add onto the mechs you can throw all lore into the bin and implement all sorts of immersion breaking thinks...

ridiculous... nationalistic crap needs to stay out of games...

If it was a nation, house, clan etc that existed in game I would not mind, other wise I would find it an immersion issue.

I personally would not. It breaks the immersion for me honestly. But to each his own as long as I can turn off skins on my end I dont care.

Personally, it kinda messes with immersion.

Practically, it flags (...) people for nationalistic insults...

Seeing as nations died over 800 years ago in this game, why would you have a national flag?

Running around with a big blue fist, or a read dragon, a flaming sword, or a black hand holding a sword, or the purple falcon.

You dont need the Union Jack, or the Gold Black and Red, or even the Stars and Stripes.

Because people would buy it and it's just something to help make money for PGI without giving something to players that affects game play

I'd say no, no need to bring real politics into our escapist game. Besides that it would be pretty damn immersion breaking imo. At least the proposed emblems will be smallish and subject to review to minimize their impact.

For those saying it's an immersion issue, it's not like the Wang breaks immersion

I'm sure many historian buffs in the future will find things like this amusing and enjoy the thought of individual nations on Terra. Adian Pryde even had ancient poetry books.

These are also things you're not going to see on every mech if they make them MC only. I'm sure you'll see phases and times where you see a few more of them than you'd like but for the most part I don't think you'd have to worry about every other mech sporting things like this.

Also, who's to say I, as a merc unit commander, didn't discover an old stash of comic books preserved for 1000 years and like the idea of being Superman and having his logo painted on to the nose of my mech? :P

I want my mech to be bright pink. Nothing rages people more than getting beaten by a pink opponent. Works in Halo, works in mechwarriors.

A few things would, off the top of my head I'd say a bright pink opponent with a giant My Little Pony emblem on it.

My famous symbol is a heart. Pink paint/armor, with symbol/avatar being a heart. Oh god, the rage. In order to further amplify the rage, be polite. "Nice try, that was a really good play". "You are a really good shot!"... and my personal favorite.."You are pretty good, want to party up after?"

I can't say I would buy it, but I have no issue if they are implemented. There are people who will buy them and it's a great way for PGI to make some money.

To the people who claim it will break the immersion factor I ask this: Am I the only one who immediately thinks Japanese WWII battle flag every time I see a Yen-Lo-Wang?

Yes, because people never use old flags or symbols in a modern context. It's good of you to point that out.

The Wang does have a canon reasons/story and backing for it, so in context it actually reinforces immersion... especially once we have in game access to the history, or at least on the website.

Most of the hardcore mechwarriors wont like it, but ill sacrifice some of the lore that goes with a backgroundless 8v8 death match so PGI can make ten bucks and throw five of em back into the game
