Change the name of the MG's in the game to Machine Gun Array.

Increase the MG damage by 4x per round to simulate it being 4 machine guns per array.



Voila. MG's suddenly become viable.

Or just add it as an option so there's something between the half ton MG and the AC2 which is 6 tons for the same space.

A 2 ton, 1 slot Machine gun array (much like an old "quad-50") with 4x better damage would be a welcome addition.

MG arrays will be put into the game but not until the timeline reaches them which is 3068, we're not even in 3050 yet so it will be quite a awhile before they get into the game so its not a viable fix.

Could just wait till Clan versions of weapons come out I'm pretty sure the clan ac/2 weighs 3-4 tons instead of 6. Until then they need to fix the MGs damage.

Some of this is a slot versus hardpoint problem.

I will admit though most of the CBT configs don't have lots of MGs. Even the smallest mech, say a 20T locust with 2MGs, if introduced (nice), would probably get its 2B hardpoints.

Closer than 3068, though there are more MG based mechs. A BlackJack (3058) with 4xMGs for example.

We don't have to call it a machine gun array. It would however be nice is either the MG was more useful, or if there was something between the 0.5ton MG and the next 6 ton weapons to fill that 1B hard point. Not a game changer, but it is an obvious hole in converting between TT and MWO.

I would increase MG damage against Light Mechs (and vs eventual BattleArmor), and have a burst of MG be about half as efficient as a AMS if the MG burst intersects missiles.

Eh, just wait until they put in a MOBA style mode where machineguns go from useless, to very cheap and useful tools for mowing down the streams of infantry and light vehicles streaming towards objectives. ;)
