I loved Mechwarrior 2 mercs. The freedom and the change of clan tech was a really interesting dynamic. It also had a pretty non linear storyline which I enjoyed.

Why isn't there a, "I loved them all and they all had their own strengths and weaknesses." option?

Need to make multiple votes - MechCommander is amazing, and i wanted to vote for it AND MW:2 Merc (since they are different style games).

I loved Mech 2 mercs and am still rabid for 3, but the original Mechwarrior, for all its walking blocks of doom had one feature that I've lusted after since. You could negotiate your contract pay and salvage percentage. I know, its a small thing, but it was a level of immersion that no game since has accomplished. I also enjoyed that you really had to watch the changing date and factor in how long the jumps to different worlds took. If you didn't, you could never complete the final fight. You'd just shoot right past the window of opportunity. .

Definitely MW2 Mercs.

All had their cool points, and all had their flaws (ehhhh.... snowball cannons... I mean, PPCs........)

But, while dated by todays tech standards, it had the best mix of trueness to the IP, and best overall mission arc, mech selection, etc.

I wish I could get it to run on my current computer.

I started with MechWarrior 3 and I still like it the best.

Has anyone tried Metal Warriors 3050 on the SNES? lol

MW 2 mercs for sure.

This game has the potential to be the best but im not sure anymore if the devs have the ability to make it happen.

It's the internets; there are no nuanced responses, just absolute and inflexible positions.

My first love was MW2 but MW4 really brought it to the next level for me esp with the Mekpaks. In fact, I would still consider MW4 mekpaks to be more complete and superior to MWO at this stage.

Only seven votes as I write this but so many fellow MW2:Merc fans. Gosh I loved that game to bits.

Name for me a MW game that allowed you to jack a mech with a suit of elemental armor?

I thought as much.

Started with 2 (though never played mercenaries), but 3 was amazing. From the gameplay to the graphics to the missions, it just blew me away. Seriously tempted to buy an old Windows 98 machine so I can play that again.

1) mech2 merc

2) mech3

3) mech4 merc

vanilla mech4 was a good game but just not as good as the rest, i just hated the fact that they went away from the cockpit feeling that was so well done in mw3 and i hated humans were just sprites you couldnt kill.

mech2 merc is just awesome in every way possible, intresting missions, create your own merc lance, good music, you never really knew what was gonna happen in the game.. then CLAN INVASION!!

Though I've loved all games I've played (I began with MW2 way back when, and would still play it if I had a comp that could figure out what it is), I think MW3 is the one I got the most enjoyment out of, and be sure to remember the Pirate Moon expansion for it....

the pen and paper paired with tabletop for the fights :)

well okay, PC? MW2:mercs was the one i enjoyed the most, followed by MW3, then MW2"basic"...

mw4 was somehow a ripoff, but i played it regardless... black knight was "okay"
