I'll admit to being a bit frustrated at the moment. However, I have a feeling the current player-base (really a fan base :-) ) will pull them through. Bad decisions are fixable, and they can win more customers over once they get through at least two months of fixes to the current mechanics.

Predicting CW for 2Q13 makes sense in this context..

IMHO, the game is not done -- I suspect many like myself will keep putting in about 15-30/month despite everything else. :) There will be a struggle though to break-through, and all my hopes are pinned on CW.

Most everyone can see that a f2p game is released if it is open to anyone to play. It doesn't matter how much everyone screams it's just beta that doesn't matter in the f2p market. What does matter is your first impression to the open public gaming comunity. A game with only 5 maps and 8v8 base capture mode is all this is atm there is nothing more. The fact they have said there is other things coming simply doesn't matter. To many games with alot more content and polish have went ob just to fall hard because it wasn't ready yet. All of this is a mute point though since it is out and those first impressions are made the stigma of a totally unfinished unpolished game has been put on this product.
MWO might have a chance of redemtion if over the next month they patch at a minimum every week. Showing the public that is here they are moving foward. At the moment though they arn't doing this and it is causing people to loose faith in the product. That is causing them to either tell there friends either wait a few months and see or just stay away. Either of those 2 things is very bad for the game and the finger of blame is placed on 2 aspects. PGI not patching and giving the game new stuff fast enough and IGP for pushing the game to ob before it was even ready for closed beta.

PS2.... PS2 ..... What is PS2? Planetside 2? OH. You mean that ****** game that I played for 5 minutes back in 2000 or something?

Yep. I got a beta invite. I thought to myself, "This time, Planetside will be different".

I installed. Logged in... Ran around, utterly confused. Then found a terminal. Oooh drop ship to action. BLAM I'm dead. WTF?

Logged out. Never to login again. Planetside 2? Seriously. LOL.... What a heap of ****. It was a heap of **** way back when and it's still a heap of **** second time around.

All of my friends that want to play this game are waiting for it to come out of beta.

If the devs are wondering where everyone is and why no one is spending money....only the hard core fans buy betas. As long as the game is in beta people wont spend money on it. As long as the game is in a beta state launching is going to be suicide.

I'd suggest stop screwing around with little tweaks and nerfs and get the game running in a state that is stable enough to end beta....and end it.

I've only been in the game since open beta and I'm loving it. But everything in the OPs post is true. There are significant roadblocks that are preventing new players from joining (I keep trying to pull friends in and there is either no interest, or they play a few games, facepalm and walk away.) There is a content limit too. I maxed my Hunchbacks and was in limbo for a little bit before deciding to invest in the game and buy a few garage slots and the Yen-Lo to start on the Cents.

It is only my LOVE for the way the game plays and moves and a slight masochistic edge that kept me in and eventually got some money out of me. They need to find ways to make that jump easier and more attractive without counting on old die-hards and the rare new passionate player.

Piranha Games cannot afford to put off implementing Community Warfare until Q2 2013.

Trust me, if things continue at their present rate, not a soul will be left to enjoy the game and whatever amount of content it has when that date finally rolls around.

Plus; doing so will leave them with only a couple months to prepare all the content for the Clan invasion, if they truly intend to continue running the game 1:1 with BT lore.

They are shooting themselves in the foot, here. They need to greatly ramp up their development speed (and quality) if this game is going to overcome the ****-poor hand that PGI has dealt.

Dude why would you throw good money after bad, I seriously doubt the game will still be around 2Q13

And this right here is part of the problem.

If the game is bad and/or not "complete" then why the frak would you spend money on it?

Oh, you're "supporting an IP you love". Well, that's mighty noble of your but all that seems to be doing (in this game and other train wrecks of really good IP concepts) is telling the publishers/developers that they can release complete and utter crap and people will still pay for it.

If they keep getting paid for basically screwing up and/or not producing what they claimed they would, why would they bother ponying up and doing what they claimed.

They're going to, apparently, get money/paid either way. If people would actually start speaking with their wallets and stop paying for "mediocrity" then maybe these guys will catch a clue and figure out that it's not a good idea.

And if the/a game folds before they get the point, then maybe that's going to be what it takes for them to get the point.

That seems to be the general consensus about MWO.

So those reasons are good enough for you to give PS2 the finger but stuff your head in the sand when MWO is concerned?

On that we differ. The game is, IMHO, minimally viable. I'm running 4man drops with my unit, and having a blast. Literally. :-) From my perspective things can only improve.

We'll be getting 8man drops back soon, drops that will actually be a real challenge -- this will keep me interested in the game until the lights go out. Pun intended...

I agree. Although 1 is less critical since new players won't notice that until well after they've noticed the rest. We told PGI this in closed beta. They didn't fix the trial grind even though that'd be incredibly simple. PGI just aren't good at making games.

IMO this game is doing everything about a year early. CB should have been Q2 next year with OB a year from now.

It comes down to a simple choice: Like what you see, throw some money at the dev. If you don't then don't pay. It's really that simple. No more, no less. Time and time again there is this sudden call to bring the same 10 people on the board who are clearly not happy with the product but continue to play it, have paid for it, and just whine all the time.

I really don't get it. Either the people complaining are making mountains out of molehills or just lying to themselves. But honestly it really comes down to this, if you are wanting the game to succeed what are you doing to help?
