Changing Mech Names & Designating Builds

I don't think I would pay MC for it, but I'd be willing to shell out anywhere from 2k to 100k CB for a namechange. (I figure that playing one or two matches should be sufficient to earn a namechange, but if it's lower then that's fine too.)
I have some great names for a few of my mechs, and it would be even better if I could assign names to specific pre-made mech configurations I designed. (Meaning, that I could click a mech, have a drop-down menu which has several configurations, click on one of them, and have my mech layout changed to match that.)
ex:
short-range build -- "Striker"
PPC build -- "Thor"
laser build -- "Cyclops"
LRM build -- "Hellfire"
etc.
Is there anyone else who would like the ability do change the name of their mechs?
How about the ability to designate mech layouts?

Quick loadouts would be nice, but really isn't high on my list of priorities.

What I would like to see even more is the names of the mechs when you target someone. Where it currently has the model number, have in brackets after that the name, with a secondary check that blanks the field if the model number and name are exactly the same.
Regarding loadouts. I'm actually pretty sure I have heard / seen one of the devs comment that this sort of thing is planned and is on the way as a low priority. Possibly as part of the Mechbay overhaul due in late jan / feb ish. This will be very useful for people who drop on groups with a specialised build who then may want to drop solo in a generalist build. I would propose this is handled like talent switching in other games - have two tabs for each mech, allowing you to have two builds set for each one. This way you can easily swap between them and it won't be abused by someone have 10+ builds and not buying more mechs.

*EDIT*
Also, in regards to what Arcturious said:
I see no problem with letting people change names as often as they want, or with having an unlimited number of 'tabs' per mech model, seeing as how not having that wouldn't stop people anyways. I've already written down at least 30 or 40 different mech loadouts, and most of them are for only a few mechs. I've improved upon them over time, but all the tabs would do would be make it easier to switch between configurations faster than I already can. (Which usually only takes a few minutes tops.)
I just proposed the build saving thing (which, apparently, you are saying PGI might have already planned for the future), to help the people who don't have a system for saving their builds.
*shrug*
Either way, my builds are stored.

What I would like to be able to do is change the loadout. I tend to work best at long range, a sniper if you like. But I need to be able to get out of trouble when a Jenner or other light unit closes the circle on me. Given the option I would loadout with Light and Medium Gauss Rifles and a few ER Large Lasers for range and MG Arrays or light canons for close up. We really need Gatling Canons like the M61A1 20mm.

erm...
I'm not sure what you mean, but I was referring to how you can name your mech when you buy it. (Other than founders or hero mechs -- founders mechs should be re-nameable, (but are not, as of right now), but hero mechs should not; they're hero mechs.)
I have a Raven, for example, that I currently call 'The Chicken' -- the legs are as thin as twigs, so I figured it seemed appropriate, but what if, later on, I want to change the name, but I don't want to have to spend as many CB as it took to get it in the first place just to do that? That's what you would need to do right now, and that kinda sucks.
I also have a kickass name idea for my atlas, but I can't change the name because it's a founders mech.

(And I REALLY love my name idea. [but not so much I'd pay MC for the ability])

erm... why? what impact on gameplay do names have?
For the rest of the thread: i agree, even if i don't know why i should pay C-Bills to change the name it would not bother me, if it is in a reasonable scale

Because then it makes people feel like they have to at least work a little bit to earn a namechange. A great name isn't worth as much if you don't have to earn it, right? (This could also be expanded to be that the more times you've changed the name of the mech, the more the price goes up.)

Already mentioned, but it's good to see more people noticing that they can't be changed.
(I just can't wait until I can give my mech a custom paint scheme -- I have some kickass names to go with some paint jobs I've gotten from the books.)
