Once you slap on Artemis you'll be doing alright with 2 LRM15s.

There aren't a lot of good pug scouts that can keep a proper lock. I've met just one in the past couple of days and almost all my missiles landed and pretty much the entire enemy team was obliterated when I brought out my LRM20/LRM15(x2) Artemis Atlas with 1800 missiles (no, I don't auto-rearm, so make that 1,350). Most games though the locks break and my missiles go bye bye.

How dare you suggest that! The catapult is the most versatile mech in the game.

To get the most out of LRMs you need have 2-3 missle boast pref with voice com and agree on one target at a time. Befor last nerf and befor Artemis me and 3 friends ran a lance of catapults with LRm and our own raven scout for tagging with great success.

~Most people think the cata sucks because they don't use the LRM's properly, someone runs into a city, or behind cover and it's a no no, but out in the open LRM's can really hurt.

I play my K-2 with a pair of AC-5's, and a pair of large lasers. Sort of a "mini-sniper". I've pretty much tried them all, ( Streakcat, Gausscat, LRM boat, etc.) And for me, I truly enjoy my "mini-sniper" the most. At 350 to 450 m, I have a reasonable safety margin, and the weapons can be devastating. I can't wait to try a similar build on my soon to be new, Cataphract !

catapults represent glass cannons pretty well. streakcat vs lights, but dies vs good medium+ mechs, gausscats can be absolutely lethal in the right hands and the C1/C4 make good lrm boats with backup weapons for scouts that get too close.

The downside is the ease of which their launchers can be clipped and their oversized cockpit meaning if they are face on you can kill them very easily, and if they go side on to avoid headshots you can either clip their wings or easily take out RT/LT to disable ballistics. The torso may not be big head on, but it has a bigger side profile than an atlas horizontally.

With the trial one you just have to be selective about what your shooting at, and seperate the lrms and ML's into seperate groups. I'd recommend putting the ML's onto chainfire (you can click quickly if you need to speed it up) so that you dont run into heat problems. 30 LRMs is no laughing matter even for an atlas if unanswered.

The lrm nerf hurts... If you are actually good with a missile boat.. You could do a lot of damage before the Artemis bonus even existed.. I had 1k games with a 15/20 variant.
Now I can still do 4-500 but it doesn't get kills.

Try this with that variant.. 2lg lasers.. An a couple srm4s.. Couple mediums..
I'm currently racking decent kills and damage using that set up with my founders cat.

(I have three cats,so they have full bonuses for xp.. That helps
Just understand, every half talent Jenner pilot thinks they were made to kill catapults... So youll need the twist bonus to chase them off.)

Don't write off an awesome machine.. Get a 255xl in that thing and start trying new variants.

Let me get this straight, you sit back and let your team go 8 vs 7 whilst you only use half your weaponry.

Then, with your team battered, you wander in against what are probably by now superior enemy numbers, whilst still only firing half your weaponry, albiet the other half?

Yeah, I can see the issue. There's a problem between the chair and the keyboard.

The Cat, especially the stock -C1, requires considerable amounts of finesse to live up to it's potential. Two tons of LRMs aren't going to win any awards, but they can soften up a few targets (assuming, of course, the server decides your LRMs actually hit) and 4 medium lasers are nothing to sneeze at.

Somethings to remember with the stock -C1:
1) You are a support 'Mech, at all ranges. This means you find a friend or two and stick with 'em, they're your meat shields.
2) With your limited LRMs, ignore anything moving 90 kph or higher, it's a waste of time. Concentrate on slower Heavies and Assaults, slow Mediums are viable targets as well.
3) From a MWO standpoint, you are light on heatsinks, so split your medium lasers into two groups and pick your shots carefully.
4) Your medium lasers will hit out to 540m (not for much damage, but everything helps), you don't need to be in knife-fighting range put out damage.
5) Keep something bigger than you between yourself and the enemy, let them fire at the big guy while you pop out for a shot, then back into cover.
6) You've got jump jets, use 'em. You can make ridiculously fast turns with 'em, avoid a good amount of torso mounted weapons, and go over obstacles that the enemy would have to go around in order to catch you. It might not save your life, but it buys time.
7) Never, ever, go off on your own. You will die, painfully.

This is for the stock -C1, once you own your own and tweak it up, things change. My -C1 has a pair of Artemis LRM20s, 4 tons of ammo, and 4 medium lasers and consistently throws up over 400 damage per match. The Cat is a fantastic chassis, but you really have to learn to love it before it shines.

IMO, LRMs could use a bit of a damage buff, and also give more ammo per ton. While I'm glad the days of the super-deadly LRM are gone, exhausting the entire ammo supply of your primary weapon and failing to kill an equal-tonnage mech seems silly.

They only got a 0.3 damage nerf.... and 0.1 of that is going to be reverted next patch.

It's you, no surprise. Aren't you one of those people who cried for a refund?
