I've done "a lot" of pug'n since I started in closed beta and it had its moment of frustrations. I joined TS and grouped my fair share as well, and this really changed the game for the better including rewards (more wins). I've matched up in all the current scenerios available condoned or not. I've stomped and been stomped. I have seen my share of all sides of the fence and felt the pain and the joy just as much as anybody here.

In the past pug'n was the most painful of all matching. Recently however I've noticed a severe drop in teams on TS, almost none for about 2 weeks. So latley I've been pug'n again, and for me there has been a shift in W/L K/D ratios to about 50/50 and I'm alive at the end more frequentley. The game play style has changed for the better. Players are using different tactics and mechs each round as well as sticking together and working as a group. Some matches are just steam rolls while many have been down to one on one lastman standing with a lot less base capping.

My question, is it just me or has anyone else noticed this change?
Is it the decline in teams?
May it have something to with the holidays?
Has the player base gotten the hang of the game?
I'm curious on your thoughts.

P.S. "In the many steam roll victory's I had recently I was not part of any group!"

I've noticed the opposite. The average pugger I get teamed with seems worse than ever. Occasionally I'll get one or two decent players, but...it's not unusual to see four or five players with two digit damage totals, even during a win while pugging. Doing 4 mans, of course, it's generally a max of four, though somtimes only two or three are that bad.

I think that we are getting less new players every day, nowdays most PUG's AT LEAST know the maps and the regular course of any battle.

Yes, we cant talk about tactics.

Besides the fact that the holidays will lower the player count, I think that ECM and lagshield lights (who also use ECM) have hurt the fun factor across the board, and competitive groups have found the 8 man scene a challenge because 7 man groups can't drop, and 8 man drops are very competitive because only a handful of groups are playing at any one time.

If you can't beat the first one you come across, you can almost expect to get beat all night. That discourages play at the far end of the spectrum.

Hopefully these 3 issues are temporary.

I like to post things in <All> like:

"How do I reload?"

"What button do you press to make my red weapons work again?"

"What does Incoming Missile mean?"

I've noticed PUGging has gotten more organized, but friendly fire has jumped off the scale.

I concur: PUGS are worse. There is far to many Rambos playing the solo game...

it seems like almost half of pugs are rambos and the other half are scared to even have the enemy within 500 yards. can't really tell which is worse. one group dies right away and screws you over, the other group screws you over and then dies at the end.

then you have a small group which actually are able to read what is going on and do something useful.

PUG ECM lights annoy me the most and Rambo very often. I can count on one hand the amount of ECM lights in a PUG that have provided ECM cover for heavies + that are being shelled to death with LRM rain. Nope they are across the map chasing a solo Jenner while their team dies.

Yes, PUGS are worse...

You sure? The players in pugs I have been in lately seem completely lost as what is going around them...

PUG: where am I!? What game is this!?
Me: Welcome friend.
PUG: Why am I in a mech!?! I though this was Modern Warfare Online.

My friends have quit playing. I'm sure they aren't the only ones.

They all liked the game until Open Beta. I'm sticking around for community warfare. If that is a total mess then I'm out too.

more advertising... holidays... and a few hundered new players have an huge impact.. since MW:O isnt very populated.

alot of matches i made during holidays were like... 4 founders on 1 side and 12 nonfounders ... or even no founder at all in the matches ( doesnt mean all were new.. but a foundertag means ppl are not new at all ^^ ).

but yeah gameplay suffers since you cant give chat commands propper via ping or assist me pings... ( i dont wana start with voip again ).

Oh has it. I don't hug and when I do its for an instance. If you spread out it makes life so much easier but for some reason people insist on swarming a mech like the papparazzi.

Oddly enough I can't tell you the number of times I've been across the map lighting up heavies and support mechs with tag and seen nary a missle drop on my lovely paint job. So much so that as a light pilot in pug's I've discontinued carrying tag except when in a group.

I also can't tell you the number of times I've dragged solo pilots right into the teeth of my pug only to have them ignore the trailer completely eventually resulting in my demise. The lack of quality in-game communication options hurt everyone, light pilots included.

You can disable Founders tag showing in-game.
