Great justice you say? Take off every zig!
And yes the intro movies suck. All the games i play when you start the game you get the login screen first THEN the game movies. Now if the intro movies were cool, say like Mechwarrior 2 style, then maybe i'd be more inclined to skip the space bar and let a floating "bug" [TV term for the station ID in the lower corner of your screen] go ignored.

To skip most of the intro movies follow these steps:
1. Navigate to this folder "C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Game\"
2. Create these sub-folders "Libs" -> "UI" -> "FrontEnd" -> "Bumpers"
3. Your Directroy tree should now look like this: "C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\Game\Libs\UI\FrontEnd\Bumpers"
4. Now Create a New text file in the "Bumpers" folder and rename it to "Bumpers.xml", Make sure it's a XML Document and not a .txt file.
5. Then open the "Bumpers.xml" with notepad and paste this:
<Bumpers>
</Bumpers>

6.Then Save to file and run your game, If done correctly you should only see the atlas IGP/PGI intro, just hit space to skip that one.

Enjoy

Does this not work anymore?

With the ability to get back into a match after a crash its maddening to have to space thru the intro moves to get to the log in . Takes time that is often the difference between being alive or dead when you finally get back in .

If they are required to have logos at the beginning I would love to see them as permanent decals on a single log in page (hint, hint). Just put them in the lower left corner or something. Cryengine 3, Nvidia, PGI, and then IGP, too many. So annoying and unnecessary for the player.

Consider the login page for GW2, they have the best experience by far right now. A single splash screen requires credentials, click log in see the "news". Click Play, queue music, and click play on your character. So painless, streamlined, and BTW fast, probably less than 15 seconds total. It's I daresay comfortable logging in to GW2...

MWO, not so much...

Click MWO icon. c'mon! c'mon! Stompy Stompy Mechs, gotta Stomp!

Ugh splash screens, 1, 2, 3, and... 4, ugh MWO loading screen, flashy title, yeah, yeah, ok.

Paste password, oh wait, I cannot paste and it doesn't have option to remember.

T Y P E password, more loading, ugh wait for mechs to load, click Ready Mech wait, click Launch, UGH, wait for Searching...

Ack wait for black screen...

HoLY cRap! now wait for load screen, AHHRRGGGHH!! and... wait for Drop Screen. No! No! No! Wait for charming lady to tell me I turned the Mech On!!!!! Stompy, Stomp, Stomp, no wonder we are so aggressive at start of match. (as legs get alpha'ed out from under me by team mate)

- Piloting a mech and heading to drop from the platform.
- *CLIENT CRASH*
- "Darnit, not now! It's ok at the game start, but not between a deserted area and a fight! Did inertia get me down? Awww, only one way to find out..."
- I proceed to have an experience similar to the quoted post. Ended the match. Make a mental note: "Start a forum topic or bump an old one."

I hate to pile on to an old topic, but seriously, with reconnect now a part of MWO, we *really* do need to be able to get in faster . . . skip movies, save password, etc.

There IS a way to skip the intro movies, but I'm not allowed to post it here because it breaks the TOS. Might be better to make a thread on reddit.

You can skip them again with keyboard keys. Esc and Space both work I think though they are a little "sluggish" in skipping.

*sigh* As has been said many times already, hitting ESC and/or Space isn't what is meant. Yes, we know you can do that. There used to be a way to simply bypass that mess altogether. In literally every other game I've played, there is a way to do so.

In literally every other game I've played deleting the bumper files themselves solves the problem but mwo just shows a black screen for each file it can't find that you have to spacebar out of anyways.

Am I the only one who is grateful for not having to sit and wait half an hour, then turn the tape over and wait another half an hour for the game to start? :unsure:

Couple clicks of the mouse button while the mouse is in the vid frame does fine.

We are getting old! I'm sure some MWO users don't even get the reference, because they are to young to remember the times.

Would I use an option to disable the intros? Sure I would.
Do I care about the 4 additional seconds it needs to start up the game? Not at all!

In 1984, yes, I would have been grateful that I didn't have to wait for the whole tape load process. I would have been grateful that the thing didn't get halfway done and throw an IO error. I would have been grateful that the tape didn't break/stretch/crinkle.

Nearly 30 years later, I do expect some things that are standards to be, well, standard. Skipping the intro videos and saving a password are two of those things that are now standards which should be expected. In fact, most games only show their intros the very first time you run them, you don't even have to take an option - it just happens.

In my world, a standard is something that is defined somewhere.
The length of a meter. The weight of a kilo. The amount of bits in a byte.

Skipping intros, while wide spread, is not a standard. There are plenty of games that, even today, do not allow it.

And saving passwords should never become a standard. it makes you lazy and actually reduces security.
