It seems the poor old PC just gets muscled out these days with games for consoles that have crappy ports for a pc version (gears of war is a prime example) when it used to be the other way around, this whole 3rd person view makes me feel like us PC users have to once again bow down to the lazy gamers who want everything handed to them because they can't seem to operate a mech that can move and twist at the same time and god forbid shoot as well !?

The only way I can relate is when I got my first car, wind down windows, no power steering, tape deck hands on equipment that just worked!, whereas these days cars are made easy with electric windows cruise control etc you don't even need a key to start half of them!........MW:O is my old ford escort which I had the best times in so please let's keep this game real and true to the simulator that it should be.

I'm only 35 this post makes me sound like an old fart but it just feels like if PGI wanted this game with 3rd person and whatever else comes after, Auto targeting anyone!?!? then they should have released it on the consoles and left the PC alone.

PC's are the home of simulators lets keep it that way.

PS. RIP PC Zone best magazine ever!

Unfortunately for you I suppose, developers don't make games for your enjoyment, they make them as a business.

Iam interested, how is Mechwarrior a simulation? I mean did you play real simulations? They are pretty boring and you need a 400+ page manual to use them.

Also, MW actually was really arcade from the get go. On another note, when people talk about tactics in games, it sounds like serious business, but usually boils down to:

Light go harras the big ones.
Fire support conetrate fire on the heavies.

So whats the difference?

I'd argue that there can/is more tactical depth than that, especially in premade vs premade games, but essentially yes. The Mechwarrior series was never really about hardcore simulation.

Try and figure out why World of Tanks, the economic model that MWO wants to follow, is 3rd person view.

Because you wont hit anything while in that view? What does that have to do with anything?

.
And MWO is "NOT" a simulator, and "IS" being advertised as, and I quote "A thinking persons shooter"..
MWO is not a simulator, it is a "First Person Shooter" with a few simulator type elements thrown in..
It is definately not a simulator by any stretch of the imagination.. Remember Sturmovik IL-2/1946..??
.
But I do agree with you on the point that PC games as of late have been little more than lame console port overs..

So just to confirm.....PGI didn't make mechwarrior for me to enjoy???? Ok then...........if people don't enjoy mechwarrior then PGI don't have a business end of story., Sony did the same thing to SWG and looked what happened there.
