Here are some samples of my Madcat Mk2, modelled with Solid Edge ST4. It's about 80% finished for now. Some details on the cockpit tube and legs are missing; the feets will going underwork this weekend. It has no texture yet as I only used the standard color sheme for metallic surfaces. The Mk2 is in 1/72 scale as I want to scratchbuild it entirely with polystyrene (as long as I have some spare time for this ;D ).
I simply love the awesomeness of the Mk2, the improved version of the classic Madcat. I used some pictures of the MWLL version for reference, but I found out that their version differs really a lot from the original IronWind / Ral Partha tabletop-minature. So I googled a little bit and picked some pictures of some minis so that I could gather some informations about it. Well, here are some renderings:

Thanks guys. I know the design is not everyones favorite. I have been quite busy today so that I suppose I can finish my first 3d model during the next week.

Btw, I have been working for about 3 weeks on this one. Haven't thought it would take such long.

Nice work, I use Solid edge 2d draft ST4 for my Architectural work, its a great program.

I must admit though I've never tried the 3D version, perhaps a little beyond my Sketchup limited world, (if it's more than a 2d curve I get tremmors. LOL) Though did see the demo's, that must have taken some time.

The MadCat MkII is definitely up there as one of my favourite 'Mechs.

@ Striker:
If you really use 2D only, you're using only nearly 20% of SE's capacity. It is not difficult to learn constructing in 3D, either in Traditional or Synchronous Technology. Im am sure that there are some books in english available, and I know that there are some good tutorials on Youtube.

@ Banana:
Surely YOU would prefer the Mk2 with the two UAC20s and the DSSRMs, right?

@ Vexgrave:
I'm not mad, I am only some kinda strange ^_^. And I already have some other strange ideas in my head (maybe how 'bout creating a purchase brochure)?

@ Birdeater:
I don't know how their camouflage pattern looks like, but I am thinking about a red / black camouflage, a black one, a Ghost Bears variant and so on. The only thing I need is to swap the textures on any part of my model. Camouflage would be nice indeed, but I am not familar with creating and applying these patterns so I think this will take some time.

Hi Eisenkrieger.

The main reason I use the 2D version is that I just started working for myself and I'm trying to keep my overheads down. Since the 2d version is free and I only need a simple 2d drafting package it suits my needs down to the ground.

I also hate using non legit software for work.

As an aside did you use Photoshop for the photomontage? It looks good, (can't help but think that woman looks like she's been down the shops to buy her son a bag full of Gauss rifle rounds LOL). I've been using GIMP 2.6 for illustrations, also for the same reason as above, as a life long Photoshop user I've been constantly impressed with what it can do.

@Birdeater:
Thx for the link!

@Striker:
I'm using a registered Academic Version, which is, actually, a full version because I am kinda student. To be correctly, I am making an occupational retraining as a design draftman (hopefully this translation is correct ;) )We work in school with ST2, so it was'nt a problem to grab ST4 from Siemens.
And, yes, I am using Photoshop, but its an older version (CS2) I bought for a very good price some years ago. I'm still happy with it although I'm thinking about to get GIMP additionally because its newer, has more functions and it won't cost me a single buck anyway.

Its about 14m tall, a little bit less than an Atlas. Remember, the Mk2 is a 90 ton Assault and not a heavy mech.

Very nicely done. Its images like this that make me just want the game more, even though I know I can't drive a MK II.
