I'm having the same problem (click icon, get small splash screen, MWOPatcher.exe hangs, no 'PLAY' screen, no error messages). Can't find a crashdump file in /USER, however. Worked fine up until last week. Since then, I've only been able to play twice (friday & saturday).

Running Win 8, i7-3630QM @2.4Ghz, 8GB ram, Asus G55VW-DH7.

Have this issue after patching completely the 30 July 2013 patch. Client just hangs after minimizing. No time out, no crash. Just hang. I have uninstalled and reinstalled MWO. I have rebooted. I have updated drivers. I've used the repair tool. The only thing that has changed is the recent MWO patch. Game has worked fine(within reason for a beta) up to this point.

Windows 8
Processor: AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon HD Graphics 1.90 GHz
Memory: RAM 8GB
System type: 64-bit OS

My game i had installed recently, due to me playing since i was 4 and my dad since mechwarrior 1 came out, and i had a lot of issues with playing. First time it came up with an error, and then wouldnt let me uninstall, so i got that fixed, and now i installed it again, and nothing comes up when i click the icon. Any help?

hey i just started playing this because i just found this and i love these games but i have tried all of the fixes that have been mentioned and the problem i get is it patches then when i click play it goes away and the client exe starts then after a min it closes and never brings anythign up. doesnt even creat a dump file. i really want to play this game. any help would be nice thanks :P

Update: it doesnt give me a dump file and wont let me creat one either so this is what i can fine

I had the same problem after downgrading AMD/ATI radeon drivers. I found that downagrading had corrupted my Direct3D. Display Driver Uninstaller helped me to clean that mess. Full solution.

I am having the same problem. I completely reinstalled the game. patches and all and I can log in, but the screen just disappears after I log in. It says loading mech bay and then The outer diameter of the launch window (edges of the launch screen)turns white and the window goes black and just disappears. No errors. no issues of any kind. It's like if I hit the close window button.
My system is on hi performance and I have never had a problem playing this game on this pc before.
I have a Dell Insperon 17R, hi performance computer with 12 gigs of ram, running on an i7 at 2.4 GHz. ad plenty od HD space.
I run a Nvida Geforce GT650 m. and all drivers are up to date.
ALL DRIVERS ARE UP TO DATE. Directx is up to date. Everything was fine till the patch. Please Help.

I got mine working. I went into device manager and physically disabled the onboard video under the display adapter settings, (the dell HD 4400) forcing he pc to load with the Nvidia driver only. I checked he Nvidia control panel and mine is still set on Nvidia controlling everything.
I don't know why I had to disable the H4400 driver when the Nvidia card should have been in control the whole time.
I am going to re-enable the HD driver after I close the game and see if it acts up again......

Ok. I reactivated HD driver and the game launches still. Yea! I have not shut down and tried to see what happens, so I will now and update.

UPDATE

The game works ad loads fine now. I wanted to see if I could recreate my original problem and I was able to recreate my original issue.

I was able to recreate the issue of not loading by disabling he Nvidia driver in the device manager and tried running the game. With the Nvidia driver off My screen disappeared while loadig the Mechbay screen.
I turned the Nvidia driver back on in device manager and ran the game again.
The game works fine still.

Just for giggles, I went into Nvidia control panel and set controls to auto select and tried to run the game again.
The game showed the same original problem I reported earlier.

Now comes the weird part.
I turned the controls back to Hi performance Nvidia processor and tried to run the game. The game repeated the original problem.
I have to shut down and restart and see if the game will load.
I will update in a few minutes.

I changed my mind. I went into device manager and repeated the fix I found earlier by disabling the HD4400
driver and the game loaded successfully.

I re-enabled HD4400 in device manager and again tested the game.
The game loaded successfully.
I did not do a restart during all of this troubleshooting, so I will restarted the PC and confirm that the game is still functioning properly. Will update in a few minutes.

My game works fine now. I hope this helps someone out there.

I have this same issue, upon initial install of game client on desktop and finalization the mech warrior online graphics pops up then immediately closes itself. No update, no nothing, just closes itself.

Certain fix?

2.4 GHZ Quad
9800gt card
Windows 7 ultimate
All drivers up to date
All Windows updates up to date

I am experiencing the exact same issue as of this morning; I have not yet had a chance to update to today's patch.

UPDATE: Right-clicking and running as Administrator allows me to get to the patcher, which is now patching.

same problem. after patch the game wont launch. I get to the screen where I can press play then nothing. seems a lot of people are having issues with mwo lately. whats the fix? ive unistalled and reinstalled. repaired tool. nothing. all of a sudden I have a unplayable game.

sorry but I doubt it is the same problem those people were having in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.

are you using the old MWO patcher or the current MWO portal?

if you have tried an uninstall and reinstall and it did not help I sugest backing up your persional settings in %userprofile%\saved games\Mechwarrior online, then renaming that folder and try to launch again, did that help?

if not possibly try installing through Steam see if that fixes anything, or email technical@mwomercs.com and explain the problem, they should be able to help.

Way to necro a thread, but based on PGI having the their search engine setup to show the OLDEST threads first, you really are excused. That blame falls squaring on PGI shoulders (yes, there are time stamps but they do not show up on the thread until having clicked on the link in the search results, but still...)

With that said, what antivirus program are you using? Over the last few weeks players who have had issue with getting the game to start ended up being their Comodo antivirus program that recently had been updated.
