How about an eject option. Would add another risk reward to the game. If don't eject then have hospital bills to pay for pilot medical treatment etc. If eject then additional mech damage to repair but no hospital bills.
Would be interesting to add another level when dualing with another mechwarrior and not sure if you can score the kill shot.

I like this idea a lot also. In the 3015 Video from a while back, the Warhammer pilot ejects towards the end, and its really quite a cool thing to see from a first person perspective. I also like the added layer of realism to mech duels and combat in general.
Might be a big ask at this point though, but I think it could be worth the energy to make it happen.

You can eject, but if your pilot breaks his arm you can't play the game for 6-8 weeks, or however long it takes for his arm to heal. Instead of your mech labeled "in game" your pilot will be labeled "in hospital"
and yes, I mean 6-8 REAL WORLD WEEKS
As much as people already complain about the way currency is handled in this game, i can't see the need to remove even more of a portion from someone's earnings.
