I could be wrong, but I think the 8v8 is going to be unbearably bad. Sync drops will be impossible at worst and difficult at best, and the lack of matchmaking is going to SERIOUSLY promote cheesy teams. Say goodbye to medium mechs, for example. It's possible there are enough masochistic players that they will lose to optimal teams all day long in suboptimal teams, but I imagine "optimal" is going to be so far away from fun that even the team that wins most games isn't even going to want to play that way... And everyone is going to go back to stomping 4 mans 'cus it's easy.

easy but not necessarily fun. that is the problem i have with the game right now, its either mostly frustratingly hard if you're pugging, or mostly ridiculously easy if you use TS

It's really just another example of how PGI misses the forest for the trees. But, in this case, I can't blame them so much as blame the community.

During closed beta, I argued over and over and over again that the entire root of fixing Matchmaking. In fact, the entire root of fixing a LOT of issues people have had, is in creating a simple Faction/Corp system with chatrooms. I'm not talking about a full blown Community Warfare - I'm simply talking about a single Variable that determines which "Faction" they belong to, as well as a simple mechanic for allowing a player to create a merc corp and to send invites to players. Then add chat rooms where the chat room you are in is determined by your Faction/Corp.

It's such a basic thing, yet it would have allowed players to quickly form groups, allow players to quickly ask each other how to play, allow players to actually form an in-game community. Allow players to form in-game identities.

But no, PGI got stuck trying to figure out what the word "double" meant for 3 months, and shoving MC sales in our face with every patch.

I like it, very good idea. Never saw that unfortunately good ideas get buried under billions of troll/complaints about .0001 damage too high or low in weapons.

i will be exited if they include some sort of : weight / Battle value limit.

But i am afraid that all they have mananaged to do in 4 month of this phase ******** is create a dual line for matchmaking. Something we asked for like EVER ! and without any feature to balance game or impose limitation.

When will we have this in game "battle value + matchmaking +dual line + tonnage limit per drop = Metagame"

i am so ******* bored of the situation....

I really hope you finally deliver a good premade matchmaking and a metagame.

There was a stickied MM thread where I discussed all of these potential problems LONG before PGI talked about 4-man premade, and 8-man vs 8-man, and all the current MM theories. Unfortunately, I doubt PGI even read my posts. Or maybe they are just seeking to see if my predictions were right in a "look we invented the nuclear bomb let's go see if that crazy guy who talked about radiation poisoning was right!" sorta way.

Well all we can hope is they keep the good ideas on file or have people smarter than us coming up with them.

You know its like mind numbingly easy to get into a 4 man right?

All these matchmaker ideas will be horrible. There's no way around it. What the game needs is context swnsaitive matchmaking, where experienced players and noobs segregate not becuase they have to, but becuase they want to. CW is the natural answer for this. The question is, does PGI have the know-how and vision to make it work, or will be stuck with a glorified FPS matchmaker?

I agree. The best solution I think is the "pro drop" idea we came up with in closed beta, an extra drop that combines puggsters and 8 man premades and gives puggsters 3x normal rewards if they win.

Stupid idea. Pugs will never win so they won't see the reward increase.

I am indeed exited. I really have no idea how this new system will be recieved by the community.

I guess that most of the random groups will still do 4mans. Especially once they realize that 8mans are the organized groups playground.

Wait, I thought Phase 2 included the ability for 8 mans to choose who they fought? So that way matches can be setup before they are started, not 8 man groups are randomly assigned against other 8 man groups as per how it works now?

You forgot the option for "8man premades fail when everyone realizes 8 jenners or 8 assaults is the way to play when there is no matchmaking and it's a horrible experience for everyone involved"

Bring that config tonight. Please. We will tear you apart.

Need to get that Poll changed. The new Minesweeper in Win8 is awesome, and I'm not getting tired of that anytime soon. Looking forward to full teams again though.

I actually enjoy dropping with 15 other random people, some of those fights are intense down to last man standing.

I think many people will be surprized with the results of 8v8 premade battles.

We shall see soon I hope.

I don't know why you all are excited about this. It's just a lame placeholder system until/if they ever get around to implementing Community Warfare.

I'm not spending any MC or pressing that founders time button until that's in game. I figure there is a 50/50 chance the game will never make it that far but oh well.

Well, you can set up your own leagues if my assumption is correct in that 8mans can fight against other 8mans of their choosing, which I thought the Phase 2 MM said that this was possible but can not longer find.

This was why I was happy about the Phase 2 MM because then we can setup matches in advance.
