As this is Forum support and everything, i will ask a question regarding the forum:

There are tons of great signatures and i envy the people who worked on them. Good job!
I suck at photoediting and such, and of course i a lazy guy who doesn't want to work on such stuff (where i would have to learn, see the first part of my statement).

So i noticed some guys who have their stats in the signature, what i would like to do also.
My stats are BAD, but it's better then nothing ;)

So, is there a easy quick way to do it?

In other games i could export my "gamer card" or whatever and would have a direct link to my stats.

Open your stats. Make screenshot. Cut it. Upload it to (for example) http://www.imageshack.us/ . Copy&paste the link to your signature.

-> There is no 'official' linking stats function.
-> You have to do it manually as described above to wave your e-peen. ;)

I could write a script to parse your stats and create a signature pic.
But the main problem is, the script has to login into your account, since there is no way to see stats of 3rd (other) players!

I've made such scripts for other games to my old clan where I got the login data from each member on trust ... but this is no option for publics!
I also have no desire to make the coding public because of 3 things:
- it could be abused
- it wouldn't run on every hoster, because mwo requires ssl login!
- every time someone is loading one your posts, the script would login and change your "Last Active" status.

Maybe... one day... if stats can be seen public (without login)... I'll adjust the script for MWO and public using!

Best thing will be to wait / expect that the game developper add something official to the forum so no risk at all and no skill needed.

I don't think you can value the MWO stats like you can with other games like BattleField because of the game pacing.

Getting a kill doesn't require skill. I can't stand that when I'm in battle I think about my K:D ratio while it is an stat that means even less then nothing. The only thing you need to get a kill is to be the one that fires the last shot at a mech.

I had enough situations where I was fighting multiple mechs or a good one on one and after a brutal fight I didn't get the kill because some teammate walks in and fires an (insignificant) weapon that makes the kill. There are no stats in this teamgame that can justify your worthiness.

Damage done/game: when you're a sniper elite killing mechs via headshots you do little damage. Also if you destroy the arms, torso and one leg of an centurion/hunchback/awesome you do a lot of damage, but it is useless when it has it still has his center torso/head lasers and kills off everyone on your team.
Assists: Just do 1 point of damage to a mech and you'll get an assist.
Deaths: What if your PUG/team gets whiped out within 2 minutes because everyone is running to a diffirent direction? You are destined to die. Alternatively you can go out in hiding so the enemy can cap your base, but I don't do that, I'm here to fight even when the odds are against me.

A nice stat would be average playtime per match. Having an average playtime of ~3 mins means you are a fast capper or get killed verry fast. This would be the most valuable stat in my opinion because the latter is a worthless player and I haven't seen that many games with a fast cap.

A better kill stat system would be to award the kill to someone who has done the most damage to a life critical point that makes the kill like: the head, the center torso or when it had a XL engine the side torso's.

So unless they implement something like that/change the stat system I hope that this feature will be the last thing they'll work on.

Thats kinda traffic intensive for a stat signature unless you'll update the pic once every xxTime instead of on demand.

@Radio: the leaderboard will mostly focus on XP per game and everything, so yeah: that definitely IS a valid point. ;)

XP is a pretty good one, or at least I think it is.
Kill/assist xp is based on the amount of damage you did to a mech and the xp/dmg point for a kill is a bit higher then xp/dmg for an assist is, or am I wrong?

Why else would I get in a game with 1 kill and 7 assists:
113 Kill XP
219 Assist XP
I did ~550dmg and the rest of my team did about 1*420 + 6*60/120dmg per user.

Hmm ... last time I had to do something like this with Perl, I parsed the HTML, snipped it and saved it in as csv in document on the server, this was from where the data got delivered. The script was run as a cron job and would update all members every 12 hours or so. Unfortunately that was soooo long ago, I wouldn't know where to find that, I'd have to reconfigure for SSL login/session & cookie handling + get back into Perl which I've left behind me a long time ago. Would also be helpful if stats were made available as XML and every user could opt-in to publicly show his stats there.

The XP per match isn't very valid, unless it doesn't count the added XP from hero mechs or premium time. Otherwise, I agree its the best indicator of skill. The average C-bill one is probably similar to the XP one.

Kill/death does too, but you have to account what games you mostly play (I only PUG (meaning that it has more value, but is less likely to be 100% correct), I only 4 man premade (this value is correct, but will be higher than average because more people probably pug than not), and I only 8 man drop (this is probably the most correct value of your skill). KDR loses a lot because of disconnects though, both 'good' (dropping the game by accident, or your load out is incorrect, like no weapons or armor) and bad (my KDR is everything, and I die all the time, alt-f4 and people will think I'm good, I hate those turds). Win/loss, not actually there, is just about the same reasoning. However, it does generally show better tactics and teamwork than KDR can.

To include your Stats in Signature

Step1: Stroke ego till it becomes erect.
Step2: Put a lift kit on your truck and big tires.
Step3: Shove head up your behind.

I've saved the generated file/pic local on server and updated it if the last file change was longer then 1 hour... in other case I've send the "cache"

There are many community users who offer to do sigs for you. Go to the fan art section in the forums and request one. If you want you can also make one yourself with photo editors such as photobucket that are free and pretty straight forward.
