Stock 3039 dervish is crap.

Toss on a bunch of streaks and medium lasers, bump up the armor and give it DHS.

Now it's not crap.

Absolutely, and that's what I'm hoping for. I'd love to see PGI's take on the Unseen, and I would gladly pay money to be able to pilot a Wasp, a Shadow Hawk, a Thunderbolt, or a Battlemaster.

IIRC, Garth (or was it Bryan? or Russ?) said that there's nothing really stopping them from using the Unseen. But then again, if that's so, where's my Locust? Where's any of the iconic Battletech 'mechs?

For many of us old BT greybeards, the Unseen *are* Battletech; the clan cheese doesn't even compete. The TRO 3025 is where it's at for me personally, and the Unseen are a big part of that. I don't really care at all about the clans and their less-heat-more-damage-better-at-everything tech.

Actually during the Kotaku Q&A they did flat out say that they could not put the unseen in game due to licensing issues.

I agree and stated as much many times in closed beta.

Mediums need to be able to flank, and for that you need speed. that is there general role to play and the slow *** mediums we have now are all assault class browler slow so it makes them hard to use as a medium should be used.

The sad reality is all our heavy mechs are faster in stock format than our mediums, whats the hell was PGI thinking whe they made that decision ill never know.

We are in dire need of a mobile medium such as: Shadow Hawk, Griffen, Dervish, Assasin, etc.

CN9-D that goes 97 KPH before Speed Tweak and 104 KPH after? How and I not a "Mobile Medium" ;)

Sadly, there are not enough variants of the Dervish. But the Kintaro should would have been a solid choice, but maybe the devs felt it was too similar to the Trebuchet, which is a much more iconic mech.

The only 55tonners in the 3039 TRO are..

Dervish
Kintaro

Besides that you only have unseens>
Griffin
Scorpion
Shadow Hawk
Wolverine

The possibility of a Kintaro or Dervish are half decent imo.

I still don't get the whole Unseen issue. I mean the whole problem with them originally was that they were ripped directly from another franchise, which is why FASA was sued.

Couldn't PGI come up with their own designs as far as the Mech model is concerned and just slap the same TT rules/stats on say a Wolverine?

You'd think that but they still say they don't have the rights for it.

Not quite. What Russ said was "the bottom line is we do not have the rights to use the Warhammer and some other "Unseen"" - and unless I miss my mark that means they cannot use their exact looks. A re-interpreted-by-PGI Unseen could be used still.

I see no mention of looks. I flat out see a statement of no rights to use them.

At the current rate of production we should see the Dervish in January or February.

I've long been probably the only "Please give me the Kintaro" chanter here on the forums, nice to see I'm not the only one.
With the dual reticle system I'm now just as hyped for the Dervish as the Kintaro due to the multiple Missile Hardpoints in the arms,

Cheers.

55 tons is the most efficient weight for a mech to go 80~ kph and it is my personal favorite weigth class dominated by classic and effective designs. Why the **** does MWO have 3 50 tonners instead? Id headbutt a nun for a non unseen mech like the kintaro

My money is on the Shadow Hawk since it's mentioned as a rumored mech on mwowiki.org.

Just about all of the stock mechs are "crap" according to most people. That is a large part of the complaining over trial mechs, and it is why people are so desperate to get thier own mech built the way they want it.

All a mech is (in MWO) is a chassis with specific weight limts and hardpoints. The Dervish would be an excellent platform for us to play with.

Yes, the lack of 55 ton mechs is lamentable, for sure. Those mechs were amongst some of my favs. Unfortunately, most of these guys have it right, the really good 55 tonners are/were unseen, so we wont be seeing them.

I'm not a huge fan of reseen, but I would be perfectly fine w/ the MWO mech design guy got ahold of them and gussied them up a bit for MWO, he's pretty good! I think having the iconic Griffins, Shadow Hawks, and Wolverines would do wonders for attracting and keeping players, not to mention how good they are on the battlefield. Mobile, tough, excellent loadouts, great designs. These mechs would proliferate and add another layer of much needed strategery and variety to MWO.

Not quite true. Hit boxes are also super important. The tiny side torsos of the Catapult, for example, are a huge portion of why its so popular. A good catapult dies to side torso breach less than 20% of all deaths, and it adds about 50% to the weapon tonnage that is practical to bring. Compare that to say, an Atlas, where an XL is an enormous liability.

Precisely. I'd love to have a dervish with some SRM6s in the arms. The difference is that even in TT terms the 3039 dervish is under-armored, under-sinked, and has too much explosive ammo. In MWO we wouldn't be saddled with these limitations.
