Who is your favorite character from the books? This is probably the character you know inside and out, but maybe its your 'Boba Fett' (aka a character with a brief mention/small role that you fall in love with). Maybe this character is a part of a faction you detest, or perhaps its the major star of your favorite house, merc, pirate, clan.

Also, I'm curious if this character has inspired you in some way. Have you modeled your own behavior on this character? Is this the character that helped you get over some life-turning situation?

My answer comes later.

I like Nomad, Aiden Prides' Astech.

Only a minor character, but he never hides his opinions, even while performing evey task he is commanded to by the Falcons. His stoic attitude and outgoing disrespect for Clanners and Clan society flies in their face, but yet he serves the Clan and even puts his own life at risk to save a MechWarrior he hates (he says he saved her because ultimately, he needs her to survive in the long run).

I'm no Clan fan meself, but, even cast as a minor player, he has a great presence in the storyline.

Either him or Paul Masters...

Phelan Kell (later Phelan Wolf, later Phelan Ward). I would have used one of those but they were all taken by the time I had registered, so I had to make due with the nickname of his Wolfhound, Grinner. He always struck me as a character who could adapt to any situation, and I enjoyed experiencing he clans through his eyes.

Cowboy Payson...because he gets back to his roots with a sawed-off and a stolen car when he's not making a Wasp do handstands. A serious redneck from the Southwestern Worlds of the Free Worlds League (Sierra, Galisteo, and Cerillos). Payson's a mech pilot with the 17th Recon Regiment, Camacho's Caballeros. That's my favorite series from Battletech, TBH, although the 3 books featuring Archer Christifori rank high with me, too.

Oh, good topic..and im going to have to get back to you..so many good books..so many good characters. This is a verygood excuse to reread all those old books again..even going to hunt second hand book stores to find the ones i've lost during all my many moves over the years. Characters from Hanse "the fox" Davion to Hawg of "the black thorns", Grayson "death" Carlye to Loren Jaffrey of the Northwind Highlanders, Morgan Kell to Sun Tzu Liao. You get the picture..

Hmmmmmm..... probably either Marthe Pryde, or Natasha Kerensky. I am a big fan of strong female characters.

Jake Kabrinski-the ultimate bada$$ of the Inner Sphere

Nearly killed the Khan of Clan Hell's Horses

Single handedly defeated an Atlas battlemech...as an Elemental

Rose to the rank of Star Captain after defeating his superior

Taken as bondsmen by Clan Hells Horses

Passed The Branding and The Clawing. Only person in Clan history to do so.

Became the Khan of Clan Hells Horses.

What a resume

I always liked Star Captain Trent from the book Exodus Road. Shows just how much some of the clans have lost Kerensky's so called vision and are more like the Innersphere then they wish to believe.

Captain James Tiberius Kirk.

I know. He doesn't exist in this Universe, but that minor point is irrelevant. Bill Shatner is the man.

So my answer stands.

:)

Cheers

Mine is Horse. He just keeps trying as hard as he can, no matter what comes up, no matter who tries to keep him down. He sees what is 'right' and then goes for it.

Malavai Fletcher, the great Elemental Khan of Clan Hell's Horses.

He's a badass, he's fueled by blood, fury, and total insanity. His bloodthirsty hatred of Ghost Bear is admirable. If I had written that damnable book instead of that stravag Bear-loving Bryan Nystul, Malavai Fletcher would have crushed Jake Kabrinski's pathetic mewling whining weakling skull like a grape.

<inhale>

Yes.

I like Malavai Fletcher.

How about a thread about which character we hate the most? Mine would be a tie among Phelan Kell, Victor Davion, and Jake Kabrinski.

Victor Davion and Kai Allard Liao - They don't give a damn about the odds, they just do what they think is right. Morgan Kell is pretty awesome as well, I love when he and his Archer disappear from your targeting sensors. Colonel J. Elliot Jamison (Commander of Zeta Battalion of the Wolf's Dragoons). "Wolf Pack" was such an awesome read all those many years ago, I think I will have to dig it out and read it again:) So many great stories, so many great characters, the novels really brought out so much in the universe. Phelan Kell is another character that changed so much in the universe.
