Credits are super easy to get but after 10+ games. I got zero kills and exp. The lock on auto targeting system was nice once I figured it out but game still feels like a blocky FPS. Graphics are nice but frame rate feels low even at lowest setting. Probably need a 2 gb video card to play this game properly. Disappointed. Oh well, moving back to WoT.

<waves good bye to TrickyNick> not gonna miss you dude. Firstly, you forget the fact, this game is NOT fully functioning, and has a TON of bugs, secondly, we are still in OPEN BETA. If you came in expecting this game to be fully operational, then, well, that is YOUR mistake, not ours.

This is Crisis 3 engine, you must have a better hardware then what is required for WoT to enjoy best graphics engine of 2012.So I do not understand how dissapointing this can be. You have quite a short attention span, 10+ games isn't really much to learn how to be effective in combat with your mech, but thanks for your opinion.

its hysterical that people miss the sign's that say: OPEN BETA and act all disappointed when the game isnt a fully fleshed out, fully operational, non buggy game.

because after all, it does say:
WELCOME TO
OPEN BETA
PLAY FOR FREE
to expect anything less than buggy and incomplete is self denial and or delusional.

TrickyNick, I'd encourage you to stick around 10 or so more games and buy your own mech, so you can get some xp and explore the mech lab. However, I had fun right away even in the trial mech, so if you aren't feeling it after 10 games, maybe it isn't the game for you.

TrickyNick, I had the same troubles during the first games. I play it on a Dell Latitude 6520 and I can definitely enjoy the game, only rarely my RAM chokes and everything goes into slowmo.

I had expected something bigger than simply Mech bashing, though. I had hoped for tanks and infantry ,too (pretty much like Battlefield), but still the game is great fun so far. I'm eager to see the full game, where you will be able to choose sides and have a goal - the random battles are like basic training to me, I don't expect to raise my pilot through this much. I hope they won't fail on the rest for the game, only having a good graphics engine and a handfull of Mechs ripping each other apart on no name worlds over and over again would not be enough for me in the long run...

wait and see

Infantry and tanks and what not do have their place in BattleTech, but not in MechWarrior. If you read any of the books or lore you'll see that infantry are incredibly frightened by even the smallest of 'Mechs because to them they are giant walking death machines. While it may be cool, it would REALLY suck to be the guy stuck being infantry against 'Mechs.

What?! I LOLd at this one o.O Dude I have SLi setup, 2x GTX 570, which is not supported yet. I'm playing using my first GTX 570 (all max settings and i'm getting 50-75fps) So what's your problem? Just leave that GT 520 with 1GB of memory "hahaha" and get something serious ROTFL. And if you didn't noticed... laptops are not for gaming o.O

EDIT: Do some of the peoples really thinks that memory means something these days? It only helps of playing at higher resolution x_X

This game is very demanding on the cpu compared to the gpu. I'd go so far as to say it'd be perfectly playable on a secondhand 4850 you can get for $50, as long as you have a good cpu.

WoT is a slower paced game, with poor terrain texturing so it will take less processing. PGI is working on raising everyones Framerate. I run the game in low quality right now to get around 40 FPS. Game still looks detailed.

Tricky.

Hope you try again in a month or two.

Join team speak, group up in game, and don't be shy about asking questions.

Take a support mech if you have to or hang near one of the assault to improve your survival. Not sure what your style is but a common mistake seems to be new players that run off because the first purchases are fast, and get themselves killed before the rest of their heavier team mates engage the enemy. Don't be that guy.

Of course get your own mech using one of the mainstay configs--ask here if you can't find one. Just about every chassis has some preferred effective configurations.

--
Got to agree about the frame rate--this is the first game in a very long time that I've struggled to get over 30fps even with options set to low. Six core FX-6100 CPU + 560ti graphics card it's not the most powerful but should be able to handle this game. Than there's the 4 fps, and black screen bugs. The being said, I know it's beta but needs a lot more optimization; optimizations that have been promised prior to release.

Agreed. The name of the game tells it clearly ;) But I don't agree on the coward infantry thing. I have never read any BT novel (uhm, I started one and couldn't stand it) - I felt they were really poorly written and didn't add anything to the TT game. Just my opinion, I also don't like many of the Warhammer 40k novels, although some of them are written pretty well. So I come from the very early background/TT game. And infantry could trouble mechs very well in TT (although were no match in a direct fire exchange). That's why many Mechs used machineguns ;) TT had all of it, dropships, tanks, infantry, aerospace and mechs. When I started with MWO a few days ago I knew nothing about the game, website didn't tell me much and I was so excited that I actually had hoped for a full scale Battletech game...my fault. I agree that it could be pretty lame playing infantry in a game like MWO, though. Whatever, discussing this is futile. Let's load our guns and ramble on ;)

Crysis 2 was actually released in 2011 so you're completely wrong.

I have been around mechwarrior since the days of mechwarrior 2. Dreamed of being a mech pilot as a young boy, played in Konad's Bulldogs in mechwarrior 2 on dial up back in mid 90's, then mechwarrior 4 vengeance with the 55th Northern Raiders. By the time mechwarrior4 mercs came out I had started my own 30 member Clan called the Dreaded Legion, later forming up with Wolf's Freelancers. I have been around mechwarrior multiplayer games all my life. I have played more than 10 games of mwo. Probably more like 30. I read the form and know what mech I am going to buy first. I like this game and It is free. It is in Beta, and I have the attention span to grind my way to my first mech (almost there).

Likes so far:
Graphics (No complaints there at all)
Sounds (Great sounds, could use some mech 2 style "night vision engaged" etc)
Weapons (Love how the lasers do damage over time not just insta damage)
Mech Looks (Great detail 10/10 here, I fell like I am rolling out for real)
Forced 3rd Person (Gives it a Simulator Feel)
Map Detail
Jump Jet Programing/Feel
Thermal View
C-bil system (Grinding for gear etc)

Dislikes:
Joystick needs work has a awckward feel but will try again with cfg file (Rainy Day)
Needs a reverse Direction key (Both Mech 2 and Mech 4 had a Reverse Direction Button
Left/Right Turn Feel (But looks like will be addressed eventually so all good)
Could use msg that said "No xp gained while using trial mechs" but easy find in 4 mins in Forum

Conclusion:

I'll be sticking around. Great work. I see a tight nit crowd of good mech pilots helping each other and starting clans to fight the good fight.

Infantry can be one of the biggest threat's to a mech at the same time, giant camoflaughed death pits?.. ambushes?.. There's a reason the MG exists, and its to deal with those tiny little ants that can swarm all of you, Also.. Firestarter. lul

Tanks.. there probably not here because of how broken they can actually be, tripple gauss?... Or how about the challenger?... etc
