Now that SSRMS have been unsuckified heres the build i used on the A variant while getting cents to master.

CN9-A

upgrades: endo, dhs

engine: 260 standard

weapons: 2 x medium pulse lasers, 3 x ssrm2 with 4 tons of ammo

optional: AMS/machine gun for them audiophiles

Fill the rest with DHS, may want to strip some ammo from the legs.

What its good at:

- its fast, 90.x km/h with elite skills
- its good for high ping people or ones that have difficulties with aiming srms/ballistics
- it zombies like a boss
- its not expensive until you rearm, with 4 tons you just dont
- very good mech to guard your assaults (id rather get in and schtriek! though)
- its easy to get very good results with this in the overall dmg department (i have done ~1300 on a pug drop in river city pre-last-patch once, couldnt break that on any other medium yet)
- medium pulse laser have the best sound effect (to further improve the audio drop AMS and install a machine gun)

What its not good at:

- improving your aim
- sniping
- moving slowly

Try it and let me know if you enjoyed it!

I may give that a try on my A just to spice things up. I've wanted to pick up a 260 engine for one of my Hunchback variants anyway, might as well trade it around and see what else can be done with it.

definitely one of my favourites as well, but I switch the med pulses for a single large laser in CT. I find the extra time on the normal laser helps figure out the lead time for jenners, plus it gives me a bit more range when no one wants to get close. I can usually do more damage with SRM6+A instead of the streaks, but you lose the ability to tackle lights.

Solid build, I'd switch for an XL engine, UAC and 2 medium lasers but other than that it's a good mech.

Cents have such great zombie potential, I'm very hesitant to put an XL in them. I would have loved to try a Cent-D just for flavour, but other than that I think you are better off sticking with a std. engine. Looking at this build in particular, he can just lose his arms and the right chest and not even worry about it. That is a lot of staying power.

I'm actually surprised at how well this build is working... Used a 240 engine instead of a 260 engine though

I'm using something similar. I haven't bought dhs yet, and this mech is struggling. Going to purchase them soon though, as I think it will make a huge difference.

Ok, yup. This set up works pretty darn good. I think this is my first time breaking 1K damage.

Loving this build. It works very differently from the other cannon-centric Cents. Gives light mechs fits and can endlessly loop around and chip away at heavies. The Cent-A has jumped way up in my esteem. No longer the dusty wreck kept at the back of the garage, this is the new jam.

I like my version

3x SSRM 2
LBX-10
2 SL
Endo, DHS, Beagle, AMS

MOD: 360 radar and 15% scanner range

Close to max armor. I play body guard for my buddies I drop with.

How are you possibly fitting the LBX-10 on? An XL engine? A much smaller engine?

STD 200 with all the xp upgrades I move at 70 KPH If I drop the Beagle and AMS+ammo I can throw in a bigger engine. Since I tail the heavy mechs and keep lights off them I don't need to be a bullet. Once I start firing 3 SSRMs and a LBX at some annoying lights, they normally switch to me ( which I want) or bug out.

Do you really need 4 tons of ammo for 3x SSRM2s? That seems really excessive.

260 standard is a good engine for this especially since you can pull one out of a stock catapult on the cheap. Really fun mech to play, and effective too.

I can burn through 3 tons fairly easy, and it's probably a conservative amount. With 3 tons you can make room for an AMS. But it just takes one match where you think to yourself, if I only had a few more missiles...

I run 3 tons SSRM ammo and 2 tons LBX ammo. I generally like 1 ton missile ammo per launcher.

I suggested 4 tons and skipping rearm if you want to make more cbills.

I use CN9-AL with 2xML 2xMPL and 2xSSRM2, will probably try CN9-A with 3xSSRM2 and 2xMPL.
With Centurion "less is more", and NOT having a ballistic weapon gives you more DPS.

I run a similar setup, but less ammo:

Standard 225
AC10 (2 tons ammo)
2 ML
3 Streaks (2 tons ammo)

How do I get away w/ just 2 tons of Streak ammo? Save it for the mechs you need it for (the fast and small ones). Don't waste them on fatter mechs unless that's all that's left. It's all about selective targeting IMO.

I've only got 3 tons of ammo in mine, total (2 ballistic, 1 missile). How much armor are you guys packing? I may be going overboard on that...
