I don't agree, the missiles rockets presumably wouldn't fire until they had cleared the launcher. Last thing I want is to be blinded for a few seconds after every LRM launch. The missiles themselves are fine in terms of scale, the motion blur is cool, but the spread seems really wide....

If the rockets don't fire until they clear the launcher, how are they getting off the mech? Levitation?

I agree the spread looks a little funky in that shot. Still want more exhaust around the LRM launcher too. Looks like the rockets were fired from nowhere.

COULD be like the Javelin missile used by troops today. A small launch motor to eject the missile from the tube to a 'safe' distance then have the missiles main motor engage at that point?

Argh perhaps they could be like the Jav's. None the less i just want to see and feel like I'm firing frickin LRM's.

Also the jump jet effects look really nice, i can only imagine how the PPC is going to look like when firing. *Drool*

Wow the Catapult looks amazing! I've always had a soft spot for the old girl. I'm really looking forward to seeing hte rest of the mechs brought to life in all its rendered glory!

hehe if that pics any hint, I think they took a page from the javelin book honestly. Also, you really want an LRM rocket motor heating you up?

Wouldn't you be blinded when the LRMs fired after being ejected from the launcher? Also..aren't LRMs supposed to generate heat? How would it do so if the missiles weren't firing from the launcher itself?

I am looking for my reference book on this but I could have sworn that the K2 variant had 2 PPC, 4 Med Lasers and 2 machine guns. Looking at the tonnage of the weapons the LRM-15 and PPC both weigh in at 7 tons. Which leaves me with the question of how the final 2 tons are allocated. Is this used for 2 machine guns and one ton of ammo or for additional heatsink?

Sarna says that an additional heatsink was added.

Nice to see that if the Marauder doesn't make it, I'll still have a gunboat to drive. Just need to swap out one of those PPCs for an AC....

ETA: I'm pretty sure the 'K2 is 2 PPCs, 2 MdLsr, 2MGuns.

It isn't clear from Sarna, but they actually also removed two of the medium lasers and bumped the heat sink count all the way up to 20 and pulled the jump jets off.

Which is good, since without that many heat sinks you couldn't fire both PPCs for very long without overheating badly.

EDIT: Almost forgot, they added some more armor, too. Makes it quite a different mech, really. One of my favorites, though I could do without the machine guns.

Looks awesome! One thing I'm really excited about is that the LRM bins cover will open and close before and after shooting! ;) The little details count!!

I guess when the doors open completely it signals that the pilot has achieved a lock?
