Though honestly, if you are in the 5% of the United States where being shot by your neighbors is actually something you have to think about, you're in the wrong part of the US. Most of the country is safe and gun owners here are pretty normal people, who just have guns.

But Australia has a completely different history and culture with guns from the US, so your views are completely understandable and I'd rather not start a political debate with a guy who I consider to be pretty cool.

Sorry, you're right, that was crass of me. I've been under some stress the last few days - my parents' house (and the farm I grew up on) in South Australia has been under immediate threat since Friday night from the biggest bushfire to move through the area in 32 years. For the last day and a half, it's been teetering between safe and not, with the firefront seemingly halted 200m from the property. This evening I've found out that its almost certainly broken through. I guess I'm looking for something good to point to, because while living in a country with a low rate of gun violence (for whatever reason) is neat, living in a country where trees load themselves full of highly flammable oil in a deliberate attempt to set themselves on fire is not so neat. Taking it out on you guys isn't the right way to go about that, though, and again, I'm sorry that came over blunt.

I blame you for that being completely understandable (plus if you own weapons and freak out on people just for having differing opinions you probably should not own those weapons {we call them gun nuts[they make me uncomfortable too]}).

I hope everything works out ok for you, your ken and anyone else down wind, fire is a dangerous and unforgiving beast (and Aussies are some of the nicest most honest and earnest people Ive ever encountered).

I also blame you for Sparks not realizing that Nerf Mavericks can, indeed, be very impressive firearms with a bit of customizations ( I really should start modding my Nerf guns again.)

Also, no harm done Sparks. We understand and quite frankly we Americans are quite used to criticism regarding our attitude towards guns, its been a hot political issue since the United States was a country! I hope for the best regarding your situation.
