I haven't heard many people talk about the Starslayer and was wondering if anybody else hoping that we see this 'mech from the start?

I wouldn't mind having a laser boat. We don't have anything like that right now, although lots of people were hoping for the Black Knight to fill that role.

Iv noticed that but as you know this is a medium so would be cheaper to save for -

Black Knight = 7,136,938 C-bills

Starslayer = 4,873,625 C-bills

Plus I have piloted a Black Knight in MW 4 'Mercs but have never piloted a Starslayer but would love to plus it has JJ's ;)

The 'Mech was plagued with production delays that were finally resolved in 2772 B)

I've been hounding about the design myself, loved it since it was in MechCom2.

And yes though it was in TRO3058, the 2C model has been in Lyran hands/production since 2772.
Thats a long time for them to out in quantities and even to justify the other Successor states owning some as salvage.

I do like this mech. It has good speed and mobility thanks to 5 jj. Also not a bad mix of weapons.

Well from what I have read because the design was a ***** to get right it took a while for them to iron out the faults
but by the time they had the SLDF was busy fighting the Amaris-Kerensky Civil War.
This meant that most of them got moth-balled which meant that later on the different houses and 'Merc groups that was lucky to
find a Star League cache could have possibly came across quite a few new/never used Starslayers ;)

The Starslayer is a very good 'Mech. The downgraded post-SLDF version is, from what I can tell, in continual production.

The problem is that it's production numbers don't seem to come close to other mediums. Therefore, I claim that emphasis should be placed on common production 'Mechs before bringing out the low-production units.

Production got knocked out in the middle of the Third Succession War, and only resumed in the mid-3050s. There might be a few extant, but they'd be even less common than Black Knights or Lancelots.

Thats the Solaris Factory. Blue Shot Weapons produces Starslayers on Loxley

Quoth sarna:

In the subsequent Succession Wars Solaris also suffered severe devastation, including the near-destruction of Blue Shot Weapons in 2928.

Though the Solaris line was producing Lynx BattleMechs by 3056, Gualtiero Marino, the owner of Blue Shot, made several agreements with other manufacturers on Loxley, Midway, and Kathil. These agreements saw licenses for Blue Shot 'Mech designs given to these facilities in exchange for capital investments and production partnerships.

It's kind of unclear as to whether the Loxley production was ongoing or whether it occurred as a result of licensing agreements. My initial impression was the latter.

"The Starslayer was intended to replace the Crab as the Star League's standard medium 'Mech. The 'Mech was plagued with production delays that were finally resolved in 2772. The Starslayer never served in any great numbers in the SLDF, as the manufacturer refused to ship to them due to a lack of needed shipping information during the Amaris Civil War. As a result, many of the relatively few Starslayers produced never reached their units, and were put in storage instead. The design ended up in Lyran hands."

The Manufacturer was Blue Shot Weapons:

"Blue Shot Weapons was a manufacturing concern in the Lyran Commonwealth for many years before its main factories on Solaris were destroyed by Free Worlds League troops in 2928. During the Clan Invasion, the Federated Commonwealth invested heavily in additional weapons manufacturing centers in order to get as many 'Mechs and tanks on the field as possible. Blue Shot Weapons' Solaris lines were reopened in the mid-3050's via these investments.

Blue Shot's three BattleMech lines have been running continuously ever since."

Just because the Lyran had the design does not mean much. By the Third Succession War it "was fought with technology that was considered mystical. Technological regression had allowed the survival of scant hightech factories, and the developing noble Mechwarrior families were forced to repair their machines with the gutted remains of their enemies'. "

So they would only be found in limited numbers in a Brian Caches. By 3025, maybe a handful of Mechwarriors through out the entire Inner Sphere had one. But, it would be fitted with standard tech.

I've played MC2 as well and I really hope to see the Starslayer in MWO. I will always have the memory of it being the first enemy medium mech I have ever encountered in a game set in the Battle Tech Universe.
