Thanksgiving Day Surprise

The fact that PGI's idea of a "surprise" is to try and get people to pay more money into an increasingly half-assed game is just... astonishingly ignorant. You know what a real surprise would've been? Getting the streaks balanced so the game is playable again. Or reactivating the knockdown code so people can actually fight lights. Or updating the netcode so hitting lights is at least possible without guessing their "actual" position.
The surprise doesn't need to be anything major content-wise. Any sort of actual fix would've been great, because MWO has been amassing problems for a couple months and fixes are almost non-existent now.

But to be true, it would be much nicer, if ther would be anything worth to buy. Because i dont need Exp or C-Bills Boost and i have my Mech. For what reason should i buy MC?

Obviously this peaked our expectations and might of been better not to mention it at all, but I think it was an honest mistake and they confirmed what the actual surprise was very quickly.
Don't let this ruin your holiday (or the fact its nearly the weekend for the rest of us)

20% extra MC, on the really expensive packages. When we don't have a whole lot of things to even spend it on.
You guys do realize I can get 2-4 new AAA games off Steam for that sort of cash right? Not to mention 10+ AAA games if I'm willing to buy games that are over a year old. I mean Rage is on for 5 bucks right now. That's a sale.
I might have thought about buying a few points if the cheap packages were on sale, but there's no way most people will spend 60-100 more dollars on this game in its current state.

I don't have any problem with any of what the mod said. What I do have a problem with is how on the holiday they are trying to "give" us more credits so they can have more money. You know what would have been a nice surprise? A free skin for everyone who logged in and completed a game today or a huge bug fix (like fixing the memory leak).
It just would have been nice for a game with this many problems to go, "Thanks for hanging in there with us loyal fans, here is a token of our appreciation! Happy Holidays!".

40-50% off all MC? I'd stocked right on up!
Sometimes quantity beats amount. Steam is a great example of that. Games that are half off will make more than they have in six months at full price by a wide, wide margin.
EDIT: As stated I hope PGI isn't putting much stock into sales at this point. They've not offered us any of what we want to spend MC on (camos, decals, cockpit customizations, etc.), so the only thing arguably worth buying is Yen Lo Wang if you want it.

Sorry my bad... i intended to say "there was nothing on the roadmap about a thanksgiving seasonal event or giveaway so why did people get in to their head that it would be something grand"
At best people could have hoped for a sneak preview of the new map but that did happen already. This is getting blown out of proportion by some people.

It was a bonus put out by a Canadian company AND publisher for a holiday we don't even celebrate (our Thanksgiving is in October). Grow the **** up.

1. That I saw the writing on the wall, and got the Founder's Pack refunded during Closed Beta.
I love the irony of calling this a "surprise" - since, you know, every single time that PGI has announced a surprise - it has been either a way to buy MC, or a way to spend it.

How about not insulting us with this terrible offer! I'd much rather NOT have any sale.

No, he's complaining about the INCREDIBLE stupidity that PGI is demonstrating in light of their recent screw ups and their endless effort to cripple, break and destroy this opportunity. . . can not believe I continue to hope that this game will turn around, what a complete cluster. . . . I'd start at the top and start removing people until someone got their head unlodged and started REALLY fixing crap. . . . the first would be a VALID ENDURING POST about whats going on, where they need to be and what they are going to do to get there! ! ! ! anything else is just futile nonsense . . . someone grow a pair please, put your big boy pants on, pro up for a minute and do the right thing . . .i keep on seeing people say "You just don't know" well here's a shocker I do, been there done that, cept the fail horribly part . . . it CAN be saved, it CAN work the way it is supposed to . . .

In all honesty imo they did a smart move with this "surprise":
- PGI decided against desperately trying to cram in a Thanksgiving fix to current issues and perhaps botch it, which would have further infuriated all players
- Making the larger MC packages attractive to buy within a defined time frame is a good way to add incentive to packages that possibly got less attention up till now
- By adding a Thanksgiving / Black Friday special deal the game gets mentioned on multiple sites, which keeps this game in the spotlight
- If they wouldn't have done anything special during the holidays some people would have damned them for that as well
- Specials like this are the bread & butter of F2P games and missing out on the opportunity would be stupid, almost suicidal.
- The issues with 8vs8, Netcode etc. all are known to the developers and need more time. To me it looks like they prefer putting more time & quality into it instead of rushing it and thus leading to more problems

You didn't need the "grow the fk up" statement in your post. Right up until then you made a very valid, very well spoken rebuttal to this entire thread. And then you shart it all up with the open insult.
No, they didn't need to have a sale. On the other hand, no sale might have been preferable to the implications of a sale on only the two most expensive packs for a game in 'open beta' and still riddled with problems and delays.
Would YOU buy this deal? Right now, as a 120 founder? And I don't mean 'if you had not paid yet, would this sell you?' Would YOU - BDU Havoc, having spent 120 US (or equivalent CN) pay an additional 50/100 because of this sale?
If the answer is no, your point is somewhat undermined. Doubly so with the inflammatory ending comment.
