I cannot say for certain that these are the Thanksgiving surprise, but the notion that these are as opposed to the MC sale seems a bit more "surprisey". Those of you absolutely freaking out about the Black Friday MC sale as the surprise, Seriously, take it down a notch. Stop and Actually think about it for a minute before taking absolutely anything else as an excuse to jump all over PGI. There is absolutely Zero, nothing, nada, zilch surprising about a Black Friday sale.

If there are any of you surprised that a sale is happening on Black Friday, then you don't live in the United Staes where Thanksgiving is celebrated...we have big sales the day after...each and every single year for a long time now, since around 1961.

These data maps on the other hand, very much so and quite interesting as well.

I agree - this is a nice surprise - been looking for these to come back ever since the CB forums were closed.

I'm not sure I understand the difference between the kills and deaths maps ... presumably the only difference would be the effect of suicides (self-inflicted deaths) ... otherwise each death should be due to a kill unless they have a bug in statistics gathering ... or am I missing something?

no, the difference between these two is the only thing that is actually interesting on these maps.
Kill Map is where the KILLER was. Death Map is where the VICTIM was. If a map has a very small deviation between KILLER and VICTIM - that means Short Range is King. If a map has large deviation between KILLER and VICTIM - that means Long Range is King.

Solid question. EDIT: somewhere in there are the self- explosions, suicides, and team skills.

(See the quote below for what seems the most logical, actual differentiation)

Aaahhhh, yes...that makes more sense and seems so obvious...now. Good on ya.

i hope these "data maps" aren't the surprise as we've had them before and they don't affect gameplay...would be nice to get a surprise that affects gameplay

In my line of work as a Professional Chef, we sadly, all too often, experience a certain type of customer: the type of person that does not actually go out to eat, they go out to complain.

Food for thought.

kills\death are weird - there is so little in upper city in river city for example yet every game i play at least 2-3 mechs are dying there.

The river city maps seem to suggest that a lot of matches come down to one team rushing the base and other other one running back there stream "OMG Stop the cap!"

I'm also astonished that many people use the tunnel on the forest colony map. I almost never see anyone aside from the odd Jenner or Commando running through there...

THat is some interesting date, the Caustic valley was surprising. The way it maps out caustic valley is really cool, that crater is a death zone lol.

Take 3 line man!

welllll... maybe there is something useful. while the small maps movement strats are rather obvious, i do see a few things that are tactically useful in the movement maps on the one larger map, caustic (note, i did not call it large, or even moderate). to help the spotter/scout, that data does have the potential for tactical advantage that i think might be a use when we get the better mm and 8v8 pre allows for more tactical action.
