Another question. This one brought on by my Internet giving me trouble since last night. How will lag show up in the game? Lag, of course, is a debilitating thing for any game but I know that it can be handled. Are the devs doing anything to minimize how much someone who is lagging badly will affect the game?

Lag compensation, when done properly, can be really nice. Team Fortress 2 is a decent example of lag compensation. Sometimes it can be a bit frustrating, but its almost always worse for the guy lagging than the guy fighting the lagger.

But I've seen some games where the lagger was basically favored by their lag because of the awful lag compensation in the game. They could just lag around the screen and shoot people with impunity.

We will introduce lag to those who are not lagging to keep everything equal.

TF2's Lag Comp always irked me. Any HPB that joined a server seemed to get the benefit of the doubt with hitbox registration.

Man, it's 2012; 56k modems are not designed for gaming!

You used to try anyway though, right? (the acronym gave you away ;) )

I could never afford to, used to play at a friend's though. Ah, good times. ;)

That would have been funny if Infinity Ward hadn't already done it.

I once played a game of League of Legends with 5 second delay the entire game and won with a positive score!

1: require broadband internet to connect and play
2: auto kick anyone whos ping is > 100 ms to the server being used
3: auto kick anyone whos ping flucuates alot
4: profit

dawn of war 2 is even worse, not only do they pause the game when someones internet lags out, they force everyone to run at the fps of the lowest pc connected. so i go from 100 fps on ultra settings, to 1-10 fps cause little junior sonofabitch is playing on his 1998 emachine.

Let's hope server security is better here than with ANYTHING Infinity Ward touches. (I'm sure it will be!) I get tired of the "Who is the better hacker" contests ;)

So let me ask you this, I do have a broadband connection, but my ping is still around 150-200 ms, are you suggesting that I should be booted from the game because of the region I reside in?
