Maybe it's right there in front of me and I just don't see it but I can't seem to find any links or info related to the future of this game on mwomercs.com

If I click "Game" it tells me what the current state of affairs is - basically it's just 8 vs 8 team deathmatch.

Unless I missed it I really think there should be some page(s) on the main site which detail what the aim of the game is for later development, assuming Community Warfare is the main goal. What is it? How will it work? How does it tie into 8 v 8 team deathmatch? etc. etc. or some kind of timeline/rough ideas when stuff's going to get added in.

There are info pages on the mechs, as well as the Houses but beyond that the main site is rather lacking anything in terms of the direction the game is intending to take.

From the point of a new player who doesn't read the forums all they'll take away from the site is just that: it's 8 v 8 team deathmatch with mechs and nothing more - I'm guessing that isn't the impression the developers want new people to have?

I know it's probably not a top priority but it's where a lot of people are going to get some info from about the game and those people won't necessarily have spent time trawling through the forum to find out what's what. Now it's "open beta" basically I'd expect a number of people are treating it like a demo not a "test" (despite what the invariable comments to say will follow saying it's beta...) and they won't know what the idea is, maybe get bored and move on or not pay for anything and stuff

All the info is here on the site... You just need to work a little to find it.

Anyone who can not be bothered to do that should most likley wait until the devs flip the launch-button.

That being said the prime reason that there is no info on CW is that there is no info on CW.

Community warfare is needed, to give MWO a meaning. By now it is only PvP, nothing to fight for.

A little sorry, but I had to.

It would be nice to see a robust readable on CW. If the reason there isn't one is that the makers haven't really hammered anything significant out..well. That'd be a great big sad.

I remember we fight for planets at certain times that are organized for it. Then, we HAVE said planet under our..ownership for others to try to battle for. And some of us will play as the Clans that attack us..to battle for our planets as well. I hope there's more to it.
Edit: Ooh, just read stjobe's link. I remember this better now, thank you. It does sound more fun the way they say it. Now my main concerns are that they'll have some unique maps for parts of it because otherwise that would be pretty weird to play all through the same familiar maps (even if there will be around 12 of them).

Did that cool-aid come with your Thanksgiving dinner?

They removed all the info that used to be on the site about Community Warfare. You can dig up some old (> 1 year) blogs if you know exactly what you're looking for, but the OP has a very good point.

ive been pestering the devs to spill any details on community warfare since open beta but they are not talking. Many of the new players that havent been around the closed beta phase have no idea there is a metagame planned for MWO. I only hope they dont abandon the idea and just leave it as it is now

We have one single dev diary on the subject... No info outside of that... So why post that exact info twice especially as it is subject to change. So while i was a bit heavy handed.. it still stand correct. All the info you can find about CW is on the site... and that is not much more then a pitch of an idea, so no real info is to be found yet.

Did that clear it up? =)

You're ignoring the entire point of the OP's post.

Prior to the website redesign at OB launch when you clicked on "game" at the top it had an entire page talking about the game, its future, and community warfare. Now it merely describes what we currently have as if that's all it is and will ever be. That's ... a significant change.

If you knew nothing about the game ... that's what you're going to read. Most people do not read game forums, especially when you're talking about "casual" gamer. They certainly aren't going to know to search for a term they don't know exists.

I'm actually waiting for the metagame and just practicing every day to be a damn hotrod pilot when community warfare starts.

Also note that the site is adding (old and new) content just about every day, so it's entirely possible they just haven't gotten around to the Community Warfare info just yet.

If you want to be a glass-half-full kinda guy.

Exactly this. I got into closed beta quite late myself and only found out about that stuff because of trawling through the forum. I really don't believe casual players are going to do the same and most players in most games do not read forums! They'll download the client from the main website and maybe read about some stuff from there and that's all they'll know...

On the other hand this might not be a problem, since all they get when downloading the client at the monent is the 8vs8 deathmatch that is described on the page. Community Warfare might be a nice carrot to stick around after you got familiar with the game, but as it isn´t implemented yet or in the foreseeable future, i see no need to make wild promises about it on the homepage.

Ok, this is strange. Hope they didn't silently cut CW, because that is the most important thing that keeps the remaining players onto this game.

I read in one of the more recent updates that it was "coming" but when is anyone's guess.

If they aren't going to implement it, at least give us the ability to connect to a web service and pull stats for matches and players down so we can build our own community warfare system.

I can guarantee you that we will play the same familiar maps, just like they do in world of tanks.

They originally talked about it being at launch. 6 months ago it became "3 months after OB". More recently, quotes were more like "middle of next year" (without a specific date). I think you will be lucky to see it by 1-year anniversary of OB.

And yes, you will play exactly the same maps and modes, but in winning the game you will own a planet. People seem to think this will be a open-world PS2 CW...it isnt. More like Global Agenda AVA

This is exactly why they need to open an API or web service to give us access to the data for these matches. Let us sort out the community warfare -- It's for us anyways. Let them sort out the game itself.
