I'll be trying this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...bbcea8e609e4ccd

XL 325, 16DHS, 4 Mlas, gauss + 3 tons, ER ppc. It should be a fast moving sniper (no AMS) with a nice punch whenever I want to get closer or something comes for bother me.

I don't mind the XL if it brings higher mobility. The ERPCC is probably never going to be used if the target is in range for MLasers.

XL 280 engine
DHS, endo
15 heatsinks
5 ppcs
400/434 armor
with coolshot its very effective.
i even swap out the 5 ppcs for 5 erppcs sometimes just for giggles.

I've been trying out a few things, but for the last few matches I've been going with this:
250 std. Engine
3 ER Large lasers
2 large lasers
With endo and as many double heat sinks it can fit with that.
See below:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...f8762aeab945e7c

Edit: I'll probably stick a 260 std in there once I've got the c-bills

It isn't fancy, but it works. If you can aim and manage your heat you have some scary firepower. Try to fight at ranges where you can disengage to shed heat. This build benefits massively from coolant flushing.

I would try this:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8153a3ad94a36a9

STD 275 Engine
1x UAC/5 (2 tons ammo)
3x Large Laser
AMS (1 ton ammo)
Endo-steel
15x DHS

Yeah. I know it's weird, a Cataphract fully armed with energy weapon and no ballistics. But this is what I'm gonna build next, because my twin-gauss Ilya and quad-AC2 4X have overdone the ballistic platform awesomeness way too much.

This is the only interesting build I've seen for the 1X. Everything else posted another variant or heavy does better.

2ERPPC's, one in each shoulder. Max engine and heat sinks. Boring, simple, really effective.

To be honest, I think its the best layout for any Phract. You can nearly shoot it all day long. Three overheats, too often. It will seem weird leaving so many hard points unused, but if you can get by that, you may want to try it.

Its my favorite mech at the moment, and has been for some weeks now.

Im a ballistic guy at heart, but no matter what I try, I just make them effective on the phracts. I have a typical Ilya build with 3Ultras, but the 2xERPPC out performs it.

My 1X is:

2 shoulder mounted PPCs
3 medium pulse lasers
20 DHS
325XL

Played as a sniper, MPL for backups when things get close, I rarely overheat in it.

Works for me!

Running 5 LL on my 1x. Heat sucks, not as bad as [er]ppcs though. Alpha is terrible terrible damage.

Trying something else now and I seem to be having better luck.
Ive got 3 ppcs, all in the arms, 2 medium pulse lasers in the torso, a 300 std engine, endo steel for internals and ferro for the armor. it only fits a couple heatsinks, but it gets the job done and doesnt overheat too badly.

Edit: here it is

Bad build.

13 free slots.... Man, take out AMS + ammo, add endo-steel and you can have to ER PPC in the shoulders (good sniping as they are located high up. And now you have tons for 2 large lasers in the arms.
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...8a128e5a98dcd5c

I personally would switch ER PPC to regular PPC for better heat efficiency.

What do you think about this:
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3934b36275115b7
Most energy builds I saw so far are more or less the same. I like 2 PPC's on shoulders for sniping, lasers on arms to kill closer targets. 9 free slots tho...

I've been playing around with the 1X in order to try a max speed Cataphract, which I've never done before. With speed tweak, it can get up to 85 kph, which is scary fast.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b44297632283fe7
STD 335, 5 MLs, 1 Gauss, 3 tons of ammo

No no no, you guys are all wrong

My build - The Vanguard
Engine - STD 285
Armament - AC10 (2 tons of ammo)
- Large laser
- ER PPC
Double Heatsinks
Armor - 400/433
This build is the best that I have used. AC10 for mid to short range punch, Large laser for mid range, and the ER PPC for any range, and its heat is quite well.

my variant
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...69c3666d629ec65
5 ML(because of quircks + 2 mods for distance(331m optimal) and cooldown) + ac20
i can play again with it, and kill a lot, and survive, finally))

A STD 305 is really not worth the 1.2 extra kph when it's 1.5t more than a 300. I'd get rid of the C.A.S.E., personally, and move the ammo to the legs - you've got enough armor to handle a few shots there. Also, the PPC's all right, but LPLs are much better in nearly all situations - heat, short range, actually hitting things. I haven't seen endo and ferro both used on too many mechs bigger than about 40-45t, but it seems to work here.

Then there's the really-heat-efficient option:
