It would help to know more about what mech you want and what exactly you want to do with it.

The gauss rifle is going to become "fragile" in the words of the devs, while PPC's and ER-PPC's will probably see some heat reduction and emp effects added in. No one really knows if those will be significant enough to change the landscape, but it's worth a thought if you're still saving up.

But considering the chance you could just as well end up on my team during a match I would warmly recommend the Gauss such as things are now.
A quick comparison to help you decide:
Gauss:
15 damage - 15 tons - 7 slots - 1 heat per shot - 1980m max range (660 optimal) - requires ammo, but virtually no heatsinks
ER PPC:
10 damage - 7 tons - 3 slots - 13 heat per shot - 1620m max range (810 optimal) - requires more heatsinks than you can viably fit.
The Gauss does more damage, for less heat, but for more slots and tonnage up front. However, the only addition you need is ammo.
The ER PPC does less damage, for WAY more heat, but for less slots and tonnage up front. However, you'd need so many heatsinks in order to fire the ER PPC effectively that the slots and tonnage advantage is completely lost.
The total tonnage and slots needed for each weapon was very accurately covered in another thread on these forums, and if my memory serves me the Gauss landed on 18 tons to be effective (ammo and all), while the PPC (not even the ER version) ended up at 17 tons due to all the heatsinks. The ER PPC would require even more heatsinks and loses by default.
That means that for ER PPCs you not only do 5 less damage per shot, but also need more slots and tonnage in order to use it as often as a Gauss.

problem is that two ER PPCs, endo and DHS cost way more than a gauss ;/

Last night I was running a Cataphracts with an AC/20 (3 tons of ammo) and an ER PPC, no other weapons. I was pulling on average 400-700 damage a game. Say what you will, maybe I'd have done better with a gauss and a large laser, but I had fun with those. Plus when they eventually give them a boost, I'll be tearing off heads left and right!
But to each their own.
