Just as the topic says, i wanna hear the community's opinion on what is considered the "best" brawling mech around these parts.

You know, that one mech chassis/model that makes you go scrambling for cover or running away for backup cause you just can't/ is scared of/ refuse to take on alone?

So, what is it?

It depends on your style.

I'm much more of an "in your face" kinda guy, so I use the hunchback 4SP and Awesome 8R.

IMHO, depending on whether you prefer speed/strip for a quick brawler that can double as a scout/harasser in a pinch, or a BLAM, BLAM, YOU'RE DEAD JACK! Kind of brawler...

Hunchback 4P with Endo/DHS, std 245 engine, AMS, 1 small laser, and either 8 medium lasers or 7 medium lasers and a TAG.

Catapault K2 with dual AC/20s. I reckon an A1 with a lot of SSRM would work too but I'd personally prefer regular SRM.

I call that hunchie my REX swayback, and it's very effective.

I just bought a Wang and equipped it with a Gauss Rifle and it has so far earnt me 2 kills per match and on average 2 assists.

It's only been destroyed once too and is really economical with the Rifle.

Hunch 4SP with dual ASRM6+mlas/mplas, 4P SMlasboat or fast Dragons such as 1C/1N (the latter based on dual SRM4).

Replying to both at once: i like the "in your face" kind of brawling. To me, a brawler shouldn't need/be able to run away from a fight, and instead he sits there in the middle of the s***storm, kicking *** and taking names, packing a consistently heavy punch punishing whatever mechs besides lights that dare to face it

But hey do seem a bit squishy when a bigger mech decides they're it's target

Atlas of course. 2xUAC5 + 4xML is one scary brawler.
I believe some Cataphract version can fit similar armanent.

a 4p swayback has served me well as a brawler and light hunter
bUt its not as heaily armored as a heavy class chasis, so dont expect to be able to trade shots with an atlas for long. as long as yo sty moving you can be a serious asset in a brawl

Im surprised nobody has mentionned the one of the cataphract variants in this list?
I would imagine spamming dual ac in any brawl would be a blast

I'll put my vote in for the Hunchback 4SP. It may not have as much armor as an Atlas or an Awesome but it can have the speed and fire power to exploit a larger, slower mech and quickly RTB to prevent a cap and it's dual SRM6s pack a serious punch.

I'd definitely put a vote in for the cataphract. The 3D is a beast if you bump the engine up, tailor the loadout and max out the armor. The 1X can do the job as well...

I almost hate to tell anyone about this, but I found the Cataphract 1X with 5 mlas and an AC/20 in the RT with DHS makes a deadly weapon for brawling. The if your aim is true you can strip out a CT on most mechs in short order. Kinda like strapping my Hunchback G to a 4P, almost.

Because, and this is only my opinion the streak cat is not a brawler it is a low skill cheese build, and before anybody starts to try and enlighten me about streak cats, I got one had it for a couple of months, I am very rarely using it now because it is boring, and feels cheesy when I can circle an Atlas and kill it and then move on to another mech and kill that.

Streaks IMHO was just fine before they got buffed again, you could still kill lights but had to watch your step at anything heavier, the way things are going now it is more like Streak Warrior Online.

My best brawler is my Yen low Wang with a standard engine 2 medium pulse lasers and a A\C 20.

Loving my Cataphract 2X. Endo, DHS, AC20, 2ML, 2SSRM-2 and an ERPPC for long range poking. Keep the huge center torso shielded while your weapons cycle and you're golden.
