Also, don't put too much focus on being pretty with the item graphics. These models are nice and all but I'm not seeing that much great in terms of functionality and overall interface polish.
Examples would be your use of a different heat efficiency model from PGI (which as you stated is bound to confuse newbies), the lack of a numerical rating for weaponry (I do not like the use of bars) and there's just something about the overall layout and look of the thing that feels... off to me.
For starters, add number ratings next to the bars for weapons' stats, add more data (such as cycling time - otherwise known as cooldown - and try to sort them in a sensible manner. Put the autocannons in ascending order for example - the AC/2, AC/5, UAC/5, AC/10, LB-10X/AC, AC/20, Gauss Rifle.

Also, consider making your margins more equal. The way some text and elements are way out to the extreme sides with very small margins while for example the ratings for 'mechs beside their bars is something like 10 pixels is very odd looking to me.


Keep going, this will turn out well.


The weapon section isn't finished. All that data is in there, but it's very poor UI development to have information overload or redundancy in your trees. There will be progressively more information on each branch of the tree. For an example, you can look at our mech tree (All items > all mechs > mech chassis > mech variant).

Caps is something we'll look into, but that's a lot of code for something that is essentially non-functional (the variants are all lower case in the xml, and we're parsing it directly). It's not hard, just not something that will get the app finished any sooner.

What you're seeing is a WIP, not the finished product.

Yeah, it sucks. I iced my wrist for about 4 hours last night while watching Long Way Round. It's still a little sore, but a lot better than last night.

Nothing shiny. We were given permission to use assets from MWO, but we won't be able to immediately make use of them. We're also strongly considering creating a phone 8 version as well. I'll update when I have a bit more concrete info :)

I added a poll to see what kinds of mobile devices people have. This is pretty much out of my own morbid curiosity. Please do not start an Android/IOS/Blackberry/Windows battle here. I'd just like to know what people prefer.

Yes, we're still working away B). Sorry for the delay in updates, but we just applied for a grant from Microsoft, which took a bit of time to draft and submit. We should have plenty to show next week.

I just put up the poll a few minutes ago, so it's not their fault :P. PGI allowed MWO to exist, so we're even as far as I'm concerned :lol:

Very good initiative.

Suggestion, see if you can get an API library to work and tie into the MWO accounts. So that players can twink and tweak their mechs while not logged in.

Appcelerator Titanium :)

I have an iOS/Android app I may put out at some point (subject to approval of course), but for now, it's for my personal use only, and is a bit out of date as I've not parsed the xml files recently. But for cross platform, you can do far worse than Titanium.
