Thanks! It definitely beats working while you're at work :). I'm sure we'll talk more about the financial stoofs as we get towards the release stage.

Anywho - off to take a break.

Anything beats working while your at work :)

Okay, I was able to get the the most up-to-date app from my friend before he crashed. Remember, this is all WIP and not all of the stats are correct:

Also, for those of you running a playbook, you can install Android apps on your device:

Thanks :P. Work continues, but it's mostly code at this point. I've got a few more icons finished, but it feels like I'm overloading the OP with it .

Some doodling:

This is a multi-function display(MFD) linked to a fire control system(FCS) computing module. Before it's slipped into the cockpit, of course.

The finished icon:

We're plinking away. Hopefully it's going to be quite handy, if not a good lunch break companion ;)

I can't use that, as it has a copyright. Thanks though :o

And the only way to become good at anything is by rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. A year ago, I was struggling to make straight lines, much less something like this in a few hours of work:

You just have to keep at it and push yourself past your comfort zone

I figured the copyright on that particular item had expired with the FASA buyout and swapping over to that newer one they use on the tabletop sheets.

I have tried, but 3D modeling still is hard, the best I have done is import Illustrator files for basic stuff, the same with basic text. My skills still are still decent enough in video editing and compositing.

Copyrights transfer with ownership. The last time I checked, the tech manuals with that image were still in publication. I forgot how long it takes for a copyright to be considered abandoned, but it's a while.

Try sketchup and watch some of the tutorials. For making hard surface models, it's extremely easy and fast. That's why I use it for creating icons and 2d sprites - you can produce a 3d model rapidly and rotate it for different angels and create components for future use. For example:

A large laser

And a large pulse laser with pulse module:

then a small pulse laser

You can do this in a fraction of the time it would take to do on blender/max/maya, then you can build component libraries. Professional game studios are training 2d artists to use sketchup and component libraries to rapidly prototype 3d models and scenes.

Oh, and salutations from Enumclaw

Plugins will make your life a lot easier. Here is a blog post I have with information on them (I'm too lazy to repost the info here).

You'll definitely want to make an account on sketucation. It's a fantastic resource.

Awesome thanks NGNG!

I completely forgot to address this - it isn't related to NGNG at all, but completely separate. If you hate this app, please don't spam their site, TS, or anything else with NGNG on it ;). Stuff won't get fixed and they'll get confused!

======

Okay, we're sprinting again. You can expect us to play a bit of catch-up, as each patch releases new content that we have to code into the app (ECM and vanity items, for example). But, we're definitely working on it as hard as we can. I'm not sure we'll have anything special to show today (mostly code stoofs and cleanup) but I'll throw up the guass rifle as soon as it's finished ;). Might even have a small surprise if I can get it working.

I should make a 3d representation of what you would be staring at.
