Really? Seriously? You don't think punishing players who deliberately grief others is worthwhile? I... am at a loss for how this many people would agree with that... Also, DerelictTomcat, don't be a douche. I mean, you are, apparently, but... really.

I know there's the blackscreen bug (I got it myself a few times. tried to quit before the match started), but I'm assuming that'll be transient. I'm mostly thinking about the punishment for the guys suiciding right at the start or teamkilling then bragging about it. But repeated disconnects/afks are, to my mind, a pretty punishable offense in a team game. If your connection's crapping out on you that much, you really aught to just play something offline or solo until it works... It's incredibly unfair to your teammates. Unless, of course, it's deliberate.

There are some bugs in the game. Several of them disconnect you but don't show you as Disconnected. My evidence of this is having it happen to me while online with several friends. My mech was running in a straight line until it hit terrain and just sat there. My name didn't show up as disconnected in the list, but my client wasn't open and had crashed and there was no process from MWO running in the Task Manager.

I have another friend who occasionally gets the blackscreen bug. Sometimes it will clear up shortly after the map starts(he is always last to load from our group) and sometimes it won't. He isn't disconnected but isn't actually in the match. He looks like an AFKer. Yet another one has had a graphical bug where his screen went Yellow, just bright yellow. I guided him to the base and had him stand on it while the rest of us pushed forward some. He basically stood there.

Surely they can have a system where if you died within the first 3 minutes of the game without dealing much damage too much times will appear in a list to allow the publishers to punish these people.

Ehem... I've died within the first 3 minutes of a game without dealing damage. I typically play light mechs and I've had several occasions where I locked a target for fire support, didn't notice the Gausscat WAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaayyyyy back there, but they saw me. I've also had it where I got spotted outside cover and had 3 LRM boats unleash hell upon me.

The best way is still to have someone report them. Right now, with the current bugs, I report friendly fire and team killers. Not the, "Oops" friendly fire, but the kind you have a very strong feeling is intentional. Then again I think some people need to learn that Alt-Tab not only gets you out of the screen, but can get you back in while Left Mouse clicking on the screen fires those weapons. Ehem....

Once they fix the game so we don't crash out so often, I think disconnects should not give any rewards. I hate that it's an effective farming strategy, ruins the game for others.

the hardest thing to identify is a deliberate afker

Incorrect. If you dc or crash your ping is stagnant at whatever value you had, if you are afk it will change as you are sitting there doing nothing. So just because you can't figure it out, doesn't mean it's not possible.

DC should never yield rewards or penaltys, thus it's like you never played the game at all.

Sadly it would be next to impossible to identify a crappy player vs a suicide zerg. At best you could maybe be flagged if it happened over and over. While I have been cockpited by a Gausscat within the first 2min of a game in a scout, it's happened once in like 4k games since closed beta.

The only real way I see to stop people from suiciding to drop again is make it so you can only have 1 mech in a drop at any time. You don't have to spectate the match but you don't get to drop with a diff mech either. It would also encourage you to maybe stay alive a bit longer because once you die, nothing to do. For those that would just use that as an excuse to afk, at least you can spot them and work on getting them banned/money taken.

I don't know if this applies to everyone, but I noticed with this week's patch that there haven't really been any disconnects/crashes at the beginning or middle of matches. I really only see the crashes at the end of the match or in the mech lab now.

George Carlin once proposed everyone have a gun that shoots those suction cup darts. Whenever someone drives ignorantly, you shoot them with a dart. Police would know that someone driving around with multiple darts on their car needs to be pulled over and ticketed for driving while stupid.

I think we need a way to do the same in MWO, other than screenshots (which I can fake convincingly thanks to PS) or random statements. While I am confident they can check the logs I would be more encourage to see the Mech in front of me covered in little tags. Maybe make each one you recieve take a few days to clear off and in the meantime it attracts missile fire.

Several patches back, they did put a penalty in-game for a team kill. Problem is, that's all they did - there is still no penalty for damaging your team. So instead of team killing now, you have a-holes that will shoot you and just about kill you. Then leave you for a single hit from the enemy to finish you off.

I really can't understand this. They track damage in game, you get cbills for the amount of damage you do. Why will they not do the opposite for team damage, subtract cbills for the amount of damage you do to team players.
Seems simple enough to me?!?!?!

I joked the other day about how I wish you had Reflective damage, that way when ever I got shot by friendly fire it would hit the guy who shot me. Then we just all laughed because of how many people would just kill themselves over and over again.

CoD manages to have servers with it though, so not really seeing the issue.

There needs to be a combinations of systems addressing this such as public statistics, reporting, bigger performance reward incentives and maybe even this system: a game lasts for 5 minutes but you were online only 4 minutes then you get 80% of the credits and xp you would've gotten if you were online all 5 minutes.

Last night, I was rollin 4man premades and dealing with the PUGs. I ended up playing merely 7 matches as I got a very late start (midnight). During those 7 matches, we had only 1 where somebody in my group didn't Crash to Desktop, yellow screen, fps bug, crash in the middle of the match, disconnect, or blackscreen.

They need to fix the game first, then and only then punish people for trolling.

sorry but that would tick a lot of people and new blood if the expert snipers picked them off in under five mins. many top mech warriors have been the first to fall because of other expert snipers or if team work dictates that five mechs shall target one. some matches i've been in have not lastest 5 mins because of race cap or premade atlas stomping so would the whole team get 80%?

not an attractive proposition at all

Maybe there should be some kind fee for all the damage a friendly inflicts on another teamate. I cant even keep track how how many time I have been in a firefight only to have my back shot out by friendlies.

In another MMO i play the offending player is "charged" the repair fees of any and all other teamates that he/she inflicts damage too.

Would sure make people think twice before firing randomly at the start of the round (thank you to that guy who destoyed my 6 laser slots start of the match).
