WTB: being able to choose 2 options.

I felt they were pretty balanced before this last patch. They didnt hit super hard and they had a chance to miss. Just go back to that and call it good.

Bleh.

None of these options unless we start actually talking about streak 4s and 6s. The only problem with streaks is not streaks themselves but streakapults, which could be dealt with in a variety of ways. Plus, this poll doesn't even mention the shaking effect.

Honestly, I've been killed more by SRM6apults than by streak cats, usually because I've assumed they were streak cats and not worried as much about taking huge damage from them instantaneously.

Anyway, I think this was a silly poll.

So, is this just Jenner pilots trying to metagame their way out of the only thing that can reliably kill them?

I wouldn't be *remotely* surprised.

I don't use SSRMs, BUT:

1: SSRMs REQUIRE A LOCK before they can even be fired

2: SSRMs have a short range, so as long as a target can stay outside of that range, SSRMs are useless.

3: SSRMs weigh much more than a Medium Laser, and require ammunition, therefore, a person can mount 4 MLasers for every 1 SSRM (therefore SSRMs are NOT O.P.)

4: The only people who complain about SSRMs cannot come to grips with any of the above points, which is why they keep getting killed, and therefore, THEY WHINE ABOUT IT.

reduce the shake please, damage is fine anyone boating these things just needs to get blasted at range. ATM they are balancing out the netcode issue with jenners where lag makes them almost unhittable if they boost a 300 xl engine. Lights are still very playable but now you need to do hit and run tactics rather then run in circles at 150kph.

you do 6 x 2 x 2.5 damage per volley.

thats 30 damage per volley all to torso locations, the lions share hitting CT still. What kind of armor do you people put on your rear torsos that you can take 90-120 damage while trying to disengage. Aside from running the cheese build 140kph SL boat, JJ exploiting, jenner I'm pretty sure most lights cant backpedal fast enough to get out of range in time without exposing rear to streak assault. Now sure.. If we play in flat open fields and its easy to say .. well stay at range dumbass... except we dont.. and lights are scout mechs and scouting means finding targets, placing the enemy on the map for your teammates. If you come across a Streak cat, you can be most of the way screwed before his info even comes up in your targeting display. I dont want to be able to fight a streak cat at short range... but I'd like the chance to escape if I find one while scouting.

Then you're building it wrong; a solid Jenner can usually take 3 or 4 volleys from my streakcat. That's 11-14 seconds to:

A) Move behind something that breaks lock,
;) Get more than 270m away,
C) Get behind me,
D) Jump over me,
E) Type "Help D4!" in teamchat,

Now, I do occasionally 2-shot Jenners, and occasionally 1-shot Commandos, but only if they've skimped on armor; if you are skimping on both armor and engine, then you shouldn't be letting a streakcat catch you alone, anyway. You're line support.

Simple solution: reduce the hard points on that variant. Less ssmrs thus less dmg.

Cry babies, there not even that bad. You all should have seen how effective they used to be. Anyone who has, is not complaining about them now. There right where they should be.

1. A lot less screen shake and smoke
2. Larger maps
..
3. Maybe a bit lower RoF

There's such a thing called jump jets. A streak cat only needs one, and it can pretty much ignore your torso twisting and cover.

You know... There's this weapon called an AutoCannon 20. it hits single locations for 20 points of damage with a single hit. It doesn't hit only the Center Torso, but it hits really hard no matter where it hits. Yes it misses. But Streaks are what they are guided missiles. Just think what we will have to deal with when we are being shot with 3 SSRM6 (3*6+18*2.5=45 points) But since teh Mech won't be able to have 3 rear firing that is 6 SSRM6s firing front, so 90 damage! It just gives me the shivers knowing this is coming to kill us! ;)

As Lucy points out a properly equipped(read jump jet exploiting) streak cat can negate cover pretty easily and keep a light in range long enough to finish the job. It can torso twist far enough to keep its missiles hitting in almost any direction.

Torso twisting as a target may work to spread damage on larger mechs but lights cant take that much damage even spread across all rear torso locations and since the swarm lands all at once you dont really spread it out that much anyway.

Torso twist SPREADS damage across sections and to your arms, mitigating the dreaded core shot.

There is plenty of cover you cannot JJ over, and when the cat jumps his or her speed is reduced providing you another chance to get away.

I'll take the AC20 hit and die and not complain... at least I know that the pilot had to use some skill and effort to land the hit, and I can appreciate a good shot. Your supposed to be afraid of AC 20s.

The only way it spreads damage is by forcing the missiles to hit a component they were not homing in on. If the missiles come from above, they're nearly 100% guaranteed not to hit your arms, regardless of how much you torso twist.

Also a single AC20 weighs 14 tons, versus 9 tons for 6 streaks. The AC20 also has a ridiculously slow shot velocity, making it significantly more difficult to hit with.

NOT to mention that from above they also gain a porcentage chance of hitting your cockpit instead of your torso in some mechs!!!

Except it's a butter knife that cuts butter, meat, bone, anything less hard than granite pretty much.
