Any idea what 3rd party application would be able to 'force the proper threading' for my two AMD GPU's? (2 x HD6870's).

hi
u can use "radeon pro" this tool can unlock some feature for the amd hd cards, also u can force threading and can force high priority for the selected programm/game profil

add the "mwoclient.exe" to the profile and change the cpu threading usage and high priority.

there are a few other tweak option. i have a overall slightly better performance but the fps drop down to 15FPS are not fixed.

*note; this is a 3rd party software and u use it at own risk.

Didn't help me at all unfortunately. Still getting framerate in the teens, only this time it was much much more choppy.

It worked for me, after the PGI patch, mine FPS was horrible, I applied this fix, and now it runs normal again:

i7-2670QM CPU @2.20ghz, 8 GB ram
Nvidia Geforce GT555M, 2GB

Didn't help. Here're my specs:

Windows 7 64bit
Intel Pentium CPU G620 @ 2.60GHz
8GB RAM
MSI GTX 460
Lowest settings @ 1600 x 900 in Full screen

What about settings like v-sync? Do they improve or hinder performance?

Your Intel® Pentium® Processor G620(3M Cache, 2.60 GHz) is a low-end CPU which is why it won't help for you... Are you using a laptop? If not then You should look into getting a i5 or i7.

No fix, but it did help a lot, less sub 20fps situations.
It is now almost playable on most maps. Both cores run at 100% now, like before the patch.

e8400@3.6GHz
GTX 260
4GB DDR2 800
Driver 306.97

Your Computer is quite old there maybe it's time for an upgrade hmm? :)

Nothing really noticeable.

System specs:

Windows 7 64bit

Intel i5-750 overclocked to 3.51ghz

8gigs of ram

Geforce GTX 660

Driver version 310.61

Switch back to the Non-Beta Nvidia Drivers and you should notice the Improvement after doing so.

This is a CPU issue, Not a GPU issue... Nvidia just has a way of tweaking The CPU settings within their video card drivers. :wacko:

It is DEFINITELY the past couple patches. I was in closed beta and running about 20 FPS on low settings, my CPU ended up dying so I got a new i5-3320 with 8 gigs of ram in September. After that I was running 60FPS and dropping to about 45 in fights on high quality settings. I could audibly hear my video card taking on the load as the fan is set to dynamic and would start revving in high mode After the past couple patches, I run at 60 FPS and drop to 12-15 before fights. Now my video card fan never speeds up and my CPU seems near maxed out.

I'm going to try some of these fixes tonight when I get home from work and see how it goes, but dropping from 60 to 12 is a HUGE hit, where previously I dropped to max 45.

Hi :wacko:

also still stuttering. I was already looking forward testing it, but it didn´t have any effect. I´ll maybe try around with some gfx settings.
Before the last patches it went a lot smoother.

Here my specs:

System RAM: 4095 MB
CPU Name: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz

Virtual CPUs: 2
Video Card Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
VRAM: 1023 MB

ups yes

but "radoen pro" tweaks the cpu usage for the game,

then are "ATI tray tools" the right app for the threaded optimization. ("Tweaks"--->"Advanced Tweaks".--->"Multi Threaded Support")

*this tool is also a 3rd app, usage at own risk.

edit;

i will test it now and will report back.

I haven't played in about a week and a half but this did give me an extra 5 or so frames. Thanks OP

Here is what is holding you back a bit. Although you could also cheaply upgrade to 8 gigs of ram, this biggest problem is this game really wants you to have any clock rate quad-core cpu. Until then, try running the game at a low resolution and try turning off any in-game particle affects. Lastly, in your Nvidia control panel, try changing any and all settings to emphasize performance over quality.

Thx dude! :) I´ll try my best.

Is there any low-gfx.cfg that I could use beside the in-game-option-menu?
And I still don´t get it, why the performance dropped THAT much since the last 2 updates. The game ran a lot smoother.

After a few tests I can tell a little more. The FPS increased a little. But now it´s dropping from 35-40 down to 12 or 14. I can live with a not so high framerate. What makes the game unenjoyable are those gfx-lag-spikes.

Best regards

@ATI TRAY TOOLS
u have to set max thread to match cpu threads and leave min thread @0 (more not testet yet but iz recommended to leave min @0)

fps drops are still there but i noted less stuttering in brawling combat

*note this "advanced tweaks are registry tweaks and can cause kick from punkbuster or similar tools

The game has to be closer to "DONE", and optimizations, and bug fixes have to be complete.
.
Nvidia: The "GAME'S" MEMORY LEAKS will "NOT" be fixed until the game has been optimized, and Nvidia comes out with driver support that "specifically" says that it supports or has performance enhancements for MWO..
.
ATI: Pray that ATI develops good drivers... With ATI all you can do is "PRAY" for good drivers...

Helped a little, but my PC is at the lower end (or the lowest) of playable specs i guess.

* E6750 Dual Core
* 8800 GTX
* 8gig DDR2 Ram
* Win 7 64bit

Without tweaks i couldn't aim at all, the performance was more than bad, and Forest Colony was absolutly unplayable. (huge input lag, and very very low framerate)
Even with everything set to low and 1280:720 resolution.

I once had very smooth gameplay, when the game bugged out on me and started completly without sound. (Was on TS with a friend and could still talk and hear there)
Was never able to reproduce it sadly (muting MWO in windows or placing the sound-sliders all the way to the left had no effect)
So i tried to add a soundcard, since i was using an onboard sound-chip. Did nothing too.
Then i deinstalled my Realtek Audio software and drivers and used the Windows drivers. (helped a little)

The last thing i changed was opening the properties of my MWO shortcut, and enabling the checkbox -> "Run as administrator" under the shortcut tab -> advanced properties
(was kinda desperate and changed everything back and forth to find anything that helped the performance)

No idea why, but after doing it even Forest Colony runs quite good.
Everything on high exept shadows and object detail, using 1440:900 resolution, anything higher seems to melt my Graphics-Card: :)

Finally enjoying the game again (most of the time).
Maybe it can help someone.

No appreciable difference to be honest :ph34r:

Will carry on using it to see if things sort of equal out over time (i.e. get more than a few games in)

System:
  • AMD Athlon II x4 @ 3.0 Ghz (4 cores)
  • GeForce 660 GTX 2gb
  • 8gb Ram
  • Windows 7 64 bit
When I posted these specs back in CB, somebody pointed out that my CPU was a bottleneck, something to do with the cache, no idea what that means, I'm a truck driver not a computer programmer or engineer (unlike the rest of the forum dwellers it seems! :D )

Like yourself, plan on upgrading to Intel later in the year...think an i7 should see me through a few years :) .
