Been posting this everywhere because I think it's awesome and has tons of promise. This little guy aims to replace the WASD cluster on your keyboard with a joystick-style movement. You keep your mouse, but you switch from putting your fingers all in one spot to spreading them out a little more naturally, and using more motion to control your movement/strafing. There's been a lot of controller elitists shooting this down as something for 'casuals,' but I don't find this to be the case at all. Take a look and decide for yourself?

Wasnt theer a lowtech joystick that you could either jam ontop pf your arrow or WASD keys keys which did just that? All it would do was mechanically transmit your movement to the WASD keys so that you had a joystick in hand insted of flat on the keyboard... it sort of flopped without getting too much serious attention...

Why not just do it right and run a throttle?

This controller is awesome, but this is the third thread about it in hardware alone. Please use the forum search function next time before spamming the forums by 'posting this everywhere'. This unneeded duplicate post displaces other unique ones by bumping them down the list and onto previous pages...

Oops. You're right. Sorry. I'm usually good about this.

Because a throttle doesn't let you move laterally.

Most throttles have rudder controls on the back side. You use this for turning.

You also could go the extra mile and get pedals.

I use a Razer Nostromo which is available for $70 ish today.

I do think the development of different controller of this type is crucial to give us other than keyboard users different options.

But their torso's do tilt up and down, twist and left and right.
Use one of these for torso movement, and the mouse for arm movement and you might be able to do something interesting... or it could just be too tricky. (I have been tempted to bring my ancient Belkin Nostromo out of mothballs just to try this.)
Still, use a device like this for throttle, and leg turning and it replaces the WASD.

I use the thumb pad on the Nostromo for throttle with a macro up and down and left and right turn on the legs. JJ's, target next enemy and non-firing buttons are mapped to this as well. I use a logitec G300 mouse for torso turn, aiming and firing.

I had an image in my head for a throttle with a built in torso twist to turn the mech. Until I decide to build a custom I guess it stays in my head.

this doesn't seem like it would work to well with MWO.. I have no problem with keyboards (mostly from years experience) but others may.. I also didn't notice if it was analog or click on/click off... but interesting little device..

Looks OK. Seems fitting for this game but I don't think it looks like there's enough buttons on it for everything in an MW game & for me, it's just another piece of junk sitting around that I don't need. It'll give no advantage over a keyboard.

i use the belkin version (nostromo n52te) which is exactly this but it has razer software and belkens name on it. between this and my razer naga i am never lacking for buttons. in any game. ever. love my nostromo.

but to respond to the original topic: the joystick part is WAY too big to effectively use those bottom 6 buttons on the fly. you cant be moving backwards, for instance, and hit one of them. whereas on the nostromo, you can move backwards with a key OR the joystick and still use your other four fingers to hit any other key. also the keys on the joystick of that device look too close together and your hand would get cramped from constantly being curled like that. mine would at least. my two bits.

nah, I see the bottom six buttons being lesser used...
maybe i'd bind the bottom six to like, power, night vision, thermal, ECM switching, override shutdown, map....
my mouse has 6 buttons to use for my 6 weapon groups so that wouldn't change for me.. (logitech G700)

on the joystick you would probably have zoom, full stop, maybe open catapults missle doors (/), maybe even the scoreboard? the thumb part would probably take some from this lines list.. at least zoom and targeting..

I can't really think of more you would put on the joystick right now.... i'm still interested to see if the WASDIO just mimics WASD or if you can actually bind the individual axis' of it like a throttle and a joystick for turning..
