Rather than the long boring static screen, do what modern games these days do by having a short cinematic play during loading... perhaps of a mechwarrior climbing into the cockpit of the mech being played and then starting it up or something. More immersion. Immersion is the keyword for all modern games... right?

don't you think this would get annoying when watching it 60 times per week?

I can think of lots of content I'd like to download for this game...and non-interactive video ain't part of it. Put the cinematics on YouTube so we can watch'em the 4-7 times they're interesting, and let's skip downloading them to watch 4-7 times then click past until we stop playing the game.

Well, we'll be watching a static loading screen anyways, right? Just make it real short, like 5 seconds, the average length of the loading time.

And it'll still be boring as hell and skipped over after being watched 100+ times.

If it can be bypassed in preferences, then yes, I'd love to have a cool cinematic intro (other than what we've seen already).

Yes, I agree, I first came across this in Wing Commander 3. It does add to the immersive effect, sort of keys you up ready for whats to come.

...mmm... perhaps you missed my point. Ok, lets put it in more detailed terms. When you hit LAUNCH... what do you see? Screen turns dark and then a static loading picture, right? Can you skip over that loading picture? No, right? Ok, now, would you like to have the choice of actually watching your guy climb into your mech and powering it up or would you like to stare at the static picture with the loading bar below? My suggestion is replacement of the static loading screen, not adding cinematics AFTER that static loading screen. Do you understand what I mean? (reference to Hitman Absolution and Darksiders2. Both games have cinematic loading screens rather than a static loading picture with a progress bar below)

Perhaps A mech prep cinematic such as firing it up, throwing a few switches. It already exists and lasts a few seconds in the trailer. For me the walk to the mech and climb up etc. could get tedious.
