Perfectly possible without cheats.

1 shots are rare in the cases where they should be rare....

If someone unloads into your back... you might die in one hit, or a light mech standing still, or someone gets lucky and takes off your head.

You can die in one shot if someone unloads 2xgauss in your cockpit.

I don't think it does yet, hopefully the terrible server side authorization will help (although it has not stopped the aimbot/radar hack).

I've run into a one shot kill, but it was perfectly plausible. I've only seen blatant cheating one time in several months, and the account disappeared, so I have a feeling it got removed.

I know with some deaths you're really left wondering, how the heck did that happen?

My two favourite cases where "cheater!" was the first thought that had crossed my mind: one was a a one-on-one fight, we were both the last mechs standing, I had my back to the opponent who somehow took out my cockpit with one hit... with my back turned? I thought maybe the ammo in my head had blown up, but this was my Laser-cat. Latency issue or netcode issue maybe.

The other instant was in my Streakcat. I ambushed an Awesome and chain-fired my streaks to keep his mech shaking. Running full tilt, 84.4km/p (315XL with speed tweak) at a 90 degree angle to him, he looked at me, fired x4 Large Lasers and scooped out my cockpit without hitting anywhere else on my mech. I thought surely between the running, the shaking, and the inherent nature of lasers to paint a target his shot should have been impossible... but alas. That same Awesome would have 4 kills total, including a commando by also taking out it's cockpit... it too was in full a tilt run. I guess he's a Special Forces sharpshooter or something. (I really wish I had recorded this one, I would have submitted it for review)

I personally have had one-in-a-million shots as well, cockpitting an Atlas with x2 AC20s as it peaked up over a hill, and cockpitting a fellow Gausspult in a 1,000m shootout. At a little over 800 matches, I've pretty well seen it all. I have an eerie feeling that some people already have third-party programs already aiding them, but a one-shot kill cheat would be too easy to detect at this stage of the game.

A one shot kill yes. I was in a match and reported the player who one shot myself and 3 other team mates. I run in a fully armored Atlas and was cored(NOT head capped) in a single salvo.

I would like to drop 3 points:

1. It is against the forum policies to "call-out" people by name; "naming and shaming" is a violation of the website's Terms of Use/Code of Conduct.

2. Heads will go "pop" in one shot if they are hit with a 35+ point Alpha Strike in the correct hitbox.

3. Sometimes there are unexplained deaths that should not happen, and they are best reported by sending an Email to <support@mwomercs.com> and explaining the situation (the other player involved, the time/date of the match and timezone you're in, the map, and a brief description of your experience). That way, Support can see if there are any patterns or important info to pass along to administrators,

2 AC20s can headshot a mech in 1 firing, as can 4 large lasers.

I've noticed a lot of uber builds lately that can be deadly in a shot or two. Note it, changed your game play style, repair and reload, go back in and destroy!

Send info to support about it. If you took two heavy rounds to the face well that's the breaks.

Given the state of the game, it is wiser to yell "bug" than "cheat". Also, one makes you look smarter than the other.

And that's even ignoring the "I don't really understand the game, I died, therefore someone was cheating" level seen here.

Let me think of the combo,

2PPC/ERPPCs+1 Gauss Rifle.
2 Large Pulse Lasers + 1 AC20/Gauss Rifle
8 Medium Lasers
8 Medium Pulse lasers

Basically anything that totals up to 35+ or more damage can one shot any mech if it hits the head.

this could also be an issue with frame rate. if your FPS is chugging, then you won't see all the damage that is being dealt to you.
