The 4SP is my favourite Hunchback - the Wang is a better AC20 chassis IMO.

87.3 with ST, 322/338 Armour, DHS, ES
5 ML, 2 SRM4 w/ 3t ammo, 40% heat efficiency.

I don't like the SRM6's- heavy, generate too much heat with the 5 ML's and you need more ammo to really use them long term.
The SRM4's mean you can fit more DHS in and carry 1 less tonne of ammo. They also have a tighter spread and fire quicker.
Having fairly high heat efficiency means 1/3 of the maps won't gimp you that much when firing often.

Some may say that going with the SRM 6's is better as you won't last that long anyway - however my playstyle of hanging around highlanders, banshees and atlases means i am not the focused fired on and you get to add considerable firepower... also means you last longer than going off hunting yourself.
The Hunchie is too fragile to really be focused fired upon...

I'm not sure you posted the buil you meant to. That one doesn't actually match what you're saying.

I prefer the 6's as my playstyle tends to focus on hit and run attacks with that variant. So front loading the damage and then bailing is preferable. But in a standup fight I can see the fire rate and precision on 4's plus artemis being helpful. They weigh the same and generate the same heat though so all you're really getting at that point is accuracy. With straight 4's you could put a little faster engine in.

This i what I run.

I've thought about switching in 4's and going to a 275 engine in the past but I just like big wad of explosions too much.

Bored and using a Griffin as a LRM boat, I wanted to try out a 'Nekkid 4J' with no Hunch. I had always wanted to run an all Pulse Laser Mech so I figure the 4J with 6 Energy might fit. The result is the insanely fast Pulseback. Despite no Hunch, I still put the LPL in the LA out of habit, currently using only 3MPL and dumped the SPLs for 1 more DHS in each side torso. Tested 4MPL first but the heat is insane. LPL will cool off before firing again, gotta watch the MPL Alpha heat. with near 100kph, dash in, quick Pulse strike and dash out. AMS ammo went somewhere else, what you see was just a holding spot.

My current 4P setup is 1 PPC, 6 SL, 2 ML, STD 275. A bit unorthodox among 4Ps, but I've been having good times in it.

Since 98kph is hard to give up, I'm considering grabbing a G or H and dropping the 275 into it with a light autocannon. I smurfy crafted an AC/5 5ML build for the H and an AC/5 2MG 3ML for the G. Nobody expects a Fastback in those models.

Theory Idea?

Edit: very very very basic - but a rough idea?

Prolly dont need 2 tons of ammo. Maybe fit a BAP if you are crit seeking/ maybe a TAG in the head?

I like it! I'd probably tweak it like so.

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...9066a3d24e75055

And then just hold the head laser in reserve until the hunch is lost so as to keep heat manageable.

That thing would be a hell of a nasty surprise for any lights that closes in and more than capable of ruining heavier mechs day if you danced properly and managed your heat well.

If you feel like it's necessary then I'd say drop to a 270 engine to free up a ton. 96.2 Is still plenty damn fast.

an AC/5 is a surprisingly good bet on a Hunchback. I've been running my Grid Iron with an AC/5, ASRM6 and 3ML with a 260 engine, and it works like a charm.

Yeah I sort of rediscovered that too, given that your platform has some decent speed. Both my Shadowhawks runs single AC5.

I just use the 4P lazer boat for hit and run

Max std engine
9 medium lazers
max armor except 2 points removed from legs 1 from each
Double heatsinks in LT

prolly wasintg space on it but meh i like speed 98.

or for when traveling with Lrms and some unexpected brawling

drop to engine std 200- (71.kph after tweak) still to slow to me but faster than id expect

2 ppcs with 4 mediums in the hunch
2 mediums lazers in the arms
one tag on the head

armor remains the same and shift around some heat sinks and its good

tho i have mine mastered so elite maybe a lil harder since the multiplier isnt as good to pull off.

Was going to try this 4N simulator, just missing a pair of MLs due to hardpoints. (They could have given up a Ballistic slot for them.)
Then decided to build this using the STD engine due to the Hunch.
If I add FF and shave some armor, I should get the AC5 back though the AC2 is doing OK.
I love sitting at long range in it.

simple answer, drop the AMS and stick FF in, you have now plenty of room for a cannon upgrade (AC/5 with two tons of ammo is way better than AC/2 with two tons of ammo.) and maybe an additional ton of rockets.

like this: GRID IRON

(I actually used to run with that setup with moderate success, ended up changing the LRM10 to ASRM6. never went back, it's now one of my all-time favourite mech configs.)

Fastback H

I played with the original idea, and it was pretty good. But in brawls I needed a bit more hitting power, so I swapped the AC5 for an Ultra, and the build really shined. You could strip some leg armour to increase the ammo from 75 to 90 rounds.

IM really starting to think the J is better than the SP.

With the srm fixes, you get a 24pt alpha. With the J you get an additional E hardpoint.

So is with the J you get shield arm/torso. One extra energy.

The SP you get no shield but wont be gimped if you lose the 'hump'. One less energy.

J as: 2ml one head one rt arm, 4 sl, 2 srm6.

Ideas?

The J's biggest asset is that it doesn't have a hunch if you don't equip missiles! :D

So, i like to think of it as an alternative for the 4P, not the 4SP ;-)

4J is pretty much XL friendly.
