PGI please please do something to stop money farming BOTS!

I know your guys are working hard to give us all these fixes and add new stuff. I am sure most of the Battle-tech and Mech Warrior fandom will stand behind some type of quick fix. We understand that this is beta and they will be game bugs. There is much to work on.

This FARMING BOT issue is becoming a game breaking problem, ruining match after match. It’s getting worse. At first it was one or two bots ruining the game. Now it is sometimes three or more. I’ve even seen, four or five Mechs exploding themselves at start of the match. Worse the bots taunt with a macro with such things as, "I regret nothing!" So why are they doing it? It's either lazy players macro botting to earn easy money for gear and mechs or farmers trying to sell accounts fully loaded out with Mechs.

It seems these players are just too cheap to support a GREAT GAME and help it to become even BETTER. Something needs to be done. Yes, I understand it's hard to be a free to play game and keep banned players from making new accounts but at least it would be proactive.

As far as I know of, there is no IN GAME way to report these players. Not sure if I missed something or if there is an offline forum way to do so. Please HELP.

I understand that the groups and grouping is being worked on. Soon we will have more match choices. Still if you care about the community you will do something to prevent these money farming bot players profiting from the game.

Sure some players disconnect because of crashing, a bug, or a hud issue. They usually try and tell the players they're having an issue. Other players via TS or chat will try to help them stay on base or move to cap. Normally it is not game after game after game.

Seriously, have you guys not noticed the increase of bot farming players. A few weeks ago it was just a few players standing around or logging in and then disconnecting in trial mechs. Now match after match I'm seeing these bot players RUINING the game for all the others playing. It's very easy to spot. They self explode at the beginning of the match, some run right out of bounds in the first few seconds of the game, some just auto disconnect right after the match starts. The real irritating ones torso twist then start shooting everyone until they blow themselves up.

When it was just one botting player on the team, it sucked but the team can most of the time pull together and win. With two botting players, the team is at a pretty extreme disadvantage, a win is unlikely. At three or more self exploding taunting bots at the start of the game it becomes completely unfair for the team. Players on the team are extremely upset and questioning why it is even allowed? Why are BOTS able to make money? Why are BOTS allowed to keep playing? What can be done to stop this?

Suggestion: As a quick fix at start for the first 30secs or the whole match, ZERO MONEY AND EXP for "out of bounds", "overheating explosion", "Disconnecting", "Team Killing”, or “not moving off base”.
If a player doesn't move out of drop, does no damage, does no capping, they should get nothing and pay full repair costs.

As for disconnected, just remove the mech immediately or like in 60secs. It would be nice if you log back into the game and had a quick option to rejoin match if it was before the time out.

I'm sure PGI has some type of log they might check and see that player has continually blow his mech up or disconnected every match for hours and hours. I've been advised we as player are not allowed to post names of other other players doing anything bad on the forums. Instead please email support@mwomercs.com about the player who is farm botting.

I fully agree 100% in fact i have a possible idea for fixing the issue with afk'rs and bots. In the battletech books pilots would have to say a security phrase to power up their Mechs. Something similar could be done. Some form of easy to use graphical captcha. For example I have seen one that is five different little icons: Heart, Music Note, Clock, Key, and Smiley. A small sentence asks the user to drag and drop the correct symbol into a circle and hit submit. This could be used in order to power up at the beginning of a match or something similar that requires an intelligent living user on the other end.

Another idea is to add it before the drop after clicking the launch button...if an individual doesn't do the captcha before a drop then they are replaced with another player or this is done in a matchmaking system before connecting to a drop at launch.

Farming bots are a symptom of grind. If the grind didn't exist people wouldn't make money farming bots. Your move, PGI.

probably one of the best suggestions yet! :) or maybe even another thing to help, though I like Xt1nct1on's idea better, is to make it so players in a match, if they don't move for the first five minutes, then they're automatically disconnected so they don't get anything for the match.

I agree that something has to be done. I am not sure that I support the 30 second part, it discourages legitimate fighting and scouting at the start of the match (doesn't take me 30 secs to engage on some maps), but I certainly support a solution that does not impact on those things.

Also, you can report any player for an infraction at support@mwomercs.com

They do investigate and actively ban players for using hacks/bots and this type of behaviour.

easy way to sort this out is, if you disconnect before death then you earn.....

NOTHING no money no XP

also dieing out of bounds results in no rewards

I'd like to modify this as follows: If you do zero damage and are in game < 1 min or do not move at all then you get zero xp, zero c-bils, nada.

I can confirm this... I accidentally turned off into the wrong cannyon in the new map and was not fast enough to return, so I blew up at the start of a match.... 0 XP and 0 CBills.

Every single "bot farmer" in the OP examples will have also not received any rewards at all.

This is not an issue for PGI to fix, as they already fixed this issue.

If you want to report someone, then use the website report function until a better system has been implemented.

Also... many crash to desktop issues haev been fixed... but there still are a few around, so not every disonnect is automatically also a bot (not counting the trolls who purposfully overheat themselves).

P. S. if this is in the 8 player drops. Maybe you are against a team who is trying to match up against a different team but where the sync drop failed... be happy, you just got a free win and can drop again quicker. In these cases the opponents should at least have the minimal decency to inform their map opponents before blowing themselves up or running out of bounds. This will be fixed once PGI finally implement a lobby system where the opponents can organize themselves better before dropping together.

Did you check the date the first post was made?

The time this post was made they got xp and credits when quitting. It was removed after this. And like the way you say.
You dont get any xp or credits when dropping before being destroyed.
A while there were some who just ran into the enemy team for a while to get killed really fast. But it seems this was to much work for the little credits you get. So i really dont see this many "Credit farmers" in the game anymore.

Well that's really annoying considering I still get dropped from matches at least two or three times per session due to PGI's bugs. :)

Spose it's a small price to pay to stop farmers though.

With matchmaking now making a pretty curve on a graph but still no closer to making close enjoyable matches consistantly, I would not be surprised if another motive is to lower their ELO value. If you're joining the majority of matches that are one sided landslides (like me over the last week, I've stopped playing much *grumble premium time wasted) then I can see the appeal. When you actually play you'll fight against players that are well below your ability and thus giving the feeling of uber mech god that does not need a good team to get some kills. Thought I'd float this as an alternative reason.
