Not only is the second 'hidden' Dragon camouflaged but the mech is also crouched,

Nothing says 'you can't see me' like crouching behind some trees in a 30ft tall, 60 ton mech.

First thing I will be doing in combat is going passive, until either A. I suspect the enemy is nearby, and even then it will be a quick burst of on off, B. I have engaged and require active sensors to employ my weapon systems effectively or C. I am discovered and broadcasting the enemy position to other friendlies for support.

Was it crouching, or was it absorbing the shock from dropping off the edge of that hill? Dun-dun-dun!

to prevent cycle spammers the radar modes should ghost for around 4-5 seconds while changing, aka when you go passive you should remain a blip a few seconds till your scanner dissipates, and when you go active you should remain blind until it powers back up.

I would think that passive mode would prevent you from relaying information, as your transmissions could be triangulated and give you away with some time.

There would still be plenty of use for it though. You just got to get creative.

This brings up a lot of interesting possibilites and the things you can do in a scout mech on a large map.

Makes me wonder how useful jumpjets would be for a quick sideways scoot when the LRM20's start raining down at me.

As in, I'm standing in the bushes waiting to kneecap with an alpha strike when I see the hailstorm coming down.

Were you being funny? Or is this another pixel hunt?

Edit: Ha, after a minute and a half of searching I finally the see the 'mech on the upper right hill.

I saw it straight away, went "that's too obvious, there must be another one" and spent ages looking for a third. I want five minutes of my life back.

Pretty sure camoflage needs to be better than that if it's going to play a role.

Dunno has there ever been anything written on what type of a system passive is in the mech universe? To me passive system is something that receives information only. line of site of coarse but also heat or thermal, sound, motion detection, Mechs have in them fusion reactors so any type radiation even seismic hell 100 ton anything walking is going to create seismic activity if its near by. Basically mechs has to be out of site or not moving and shut down not to eb detected. One of the things I didnt like about the recent videos is The LRM missle targeting. the catapult is able to target mechs well out of hsi field of view because a light could spot the bad guy, Now this wasnt possible normaL game unless scout marked the target with a Narc beacon missle? or the two mechs were tied together with a targeting computer C3 or some such computer system. I'm hoping thats teh case in the video and this isnt going to become like the world of tanks where if one unit sees an enemy (doesnt have to be line of site they just come within a certain distance of each other) every unit on his team includding fire support kilometers away have pin point location info.. Dont missunderstand me I understand if a scout sneaks up on someone passively and looking over on the next hill spots a mech and radios in the location for a strike. Thats a great part of the game. But said scouts in the area on passive on one side of a wall and bad guys, on passive also, on the other side with no line of site for either they shouldnt be able to scope out one another. In tanks the computer looks adn says ah they are within lets say 20 meters of each other they spot each other whether possible or not its done deal automatically. Hope this game doesnt follow that.
