EDIT: and for the love of god STOP saying that CryEngine doesnt run properly on Dual Cores...it runs just fine! think before you type whatever pops on your mind....and if you are not sure about something use google...

That's just not true at all. I run the game on a single-core system. It's not great by any stretch of the imagination (I average 12-20 FPS), but it was playable on all maps except Forest Colony. Since the last patch on the 20th, both Forest Colony and Forest Colony Snow have dropped to single-digit framerates. The game can be run on minimum spec computers. The problem I have is that they have a very serious issue affecting many, many players. It's not just min spec machines having issues, it's all across the board. They are adding content and not showing any progress on this. I know it takes time, but it's a little in bad taste to add content that cost money while not providing any progress on performance issues.

let me correct myself... the problem is with 2 cores and less...

if you go through all the DATA on this forum one would conclude that the game just taxes cpu so much that only people with MORE than 2 cores are able to play with decent FPS... for the rest the game is just unplayable...

so to recap... problem: game went AWOL on the CPU preformance!!! (Thus affecting all even the GOD core specs but making it UNPLAYABLE for a lot of us mortal CPU owners)

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
10 FPS drop (from 30-40 to 20-30)
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
everywhere.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
custom/no
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
menus: 60, ingame, see above
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
core I7-2670QM, 6BG ram, GTX570M
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location
non relevant

With the 5 FPS loss from previous patch, it starts to add a bit...

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
Overall drop in framerate in all cases.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
For the 1st few seconds of the match I get 60 fps, then as soon as the match starts it drops to 30 and below.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
Upgraded my VC from an ATI 5850 to a GTX 670. Left settings the same as last patch. Cleaned out old drivers and installed newest. Lower overall FPS now on a much much superior VC.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)

Some early observations, hope some of this helps.

Okay played eight games before the mem leak and 4 fps crashed me out. Thats two more than the previous record! So ONE improvement noted...

Enjoyed putting simple new paint scheme on my Raven 4x Other styles looked good too. BUT client crashed right after I tried to launch the painted Mech? Was okay after a restart tho' ??

accidently went into command mode when looking at big map - is that supposed to do something? Couldn't make it do anything from what I could see before I saw how to exit it.

*******' Betty was priceless. the low Jump fuel warning is actually usful too TWO improvements then!

fps stays the same dismal 12-20 barely playable

Night map is good replied to that in its own thread.

Other maps had no new problems Forest seemed to give me marginally higher fps than before as well?

Matchmaker made me and three strangers fight 8 mechs.. is that WAI as it seems OTT 2Me??

overall mildly impressed and pleased so far..... (Stay tuned)

Did i clean reinstall and havent used any custom user.cfg yet.

The weird difference in FPS stability between spectating and playing is still there.

Why does spectating another player give much more smooth fps w/o sudden spikes of +/-30?
The spiking is still there, but in a much more acceptable +/-10 range.

Same for standing around still giving 40-50 FPS, while the slightest action of movement causes horrible FPS drops.

If it wasn´t for those 2 weird issues, i´d be having a much more great time playing.

omg i think i got rid of this problem, will be posting in Workarounds. So exciting *bananadance*

Overall drop in frame rate by about 10fps, including in mechlab. Each patch has hit my performance more than the last, last time the game was totally playable was before the Nov 20th patch, even then I had massive fps dips. Prior to this patch the game was boarderline unplayable, now it is unplayable. Previously I had standing still frame rates in the 40's. with crashes down to 10 and lower during combat, now my standing FPS is in the 20's, and even looking at friendly mechs puts me down into the teens, combat is a slideshow.I have an older dual core system, but a modern video card. I have all of the options on low, no v-sync, no AA.

I want to give you guys some money! But I'm not paying into a game I can no longer play. This is the single biggest issue in the game right now, it should take priority over all other work!

i tought about this when i was reading a devs post about the hud taxing the cpu so much because it uses some bad actionscript code... the difference is most probably because the hud when you are spectating is nothing more than just a visual element so it probably doesnt activate that piece of bugy code that is most probably used by us for something (weapon groups etc....)

Nothing has changed since the last patch and the patch before that one. My average is still 20-30 fps with drops to 17 and peaks at 70. Settings change nothing, and my frames drop entirely randomly near as i can tell, not at any specific time. Heres hoping i can play again before next year. :)

And this is my lovely reminder to leave MWO. Thanks for the run guys it's been fun when it work, but I'm afraid this performance drop is in tolerable with zero feedback. I'm taking me my friends, and two whales with me and I'm not coming back until the game is fixed. Customer support and feedback is critical for making an MMO especially one action oriented, where split second glitches can make a kill a death. So I bid you farewell, happy hunting, and Maybe, maybe if they fix the performance I'll see you around.

  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
My performance is now completely unplayable. It wasn't very good before the patch, but now I can't play the game at all. My view is a slide show, mech positions lag and teleport frequently, I often have to press the button to fire a weapon group several times before the game responds, there is a delay between pressing the button and seeing the weapon fire that varies from 0.1 seconds to 3 or 4 seconds, there is now popping and crackling in the audio, and my CPU is pegged at 100% when in-game, and 60% in the mech lab.
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
Forest Colony is still terrible, with the lowest average FPS of any map. On all maps, FPS drops sharply when I move, torso twist, fire weapons, when there are other mechs on-screen, or when I am near an enemy mech.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
My video settings are Low. 1600x1024. vsynch off. Motion blur off. Unchanged since last patch.
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
Previous patch was 60 FPS in mech lab. 30-40 average FPS outside of combat, and 15-25 in combat. Forest Colony averaged 24 FPS outside of combat, and 8-10 FPS in combat.

Current patch is 60 FPS in mech lab. 30-40 FPS while map is loading, dropping to 20-30 FPS on match start, dropping further to 10-20 FPS if I move the mouse or use the keyboard to move my mech, dropping yet further to 5-10 FPS in the presence of multiple mechs or in combat. Forest Colony now averages 12 FPS outside of combat, and 4-5 FPS in combat or near enemy mechs.

All Performance / FPS / Lag related posts will be merged into this thread for simplified reference and overview.

Please attempt to respond to the following questions in your responses:
  • How had the patch generally affected your performance?
  • Whether there are specific points in the game when your performance changes.
  • What are your video settings, did you change them since last patch?
  • Average FPS ingame and in the menus for previous patch and latest patch (Press F9 to see your FPS)
  • System specs (You can include them in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler])
  • Your advertised internet connection speed / Geographic location

Performance is more stable, I have been able to play around in the mech lab, and launch into games without crashes or restarting the client every 3 - 4 matches.

No performance degradation, aside when my mech explodes, the mech appears to come to a complete halt.

Video settings are at maximum settings, no motion blur, 1920 x 1080. Did not change the settings since last patch.

Intel i7 X980 @ 3.33GHz, Windows 7 64 bit, 6 GB RAM, GeForce GTX590

3MB Cable / United States

Items in Bold and Italics are not to be taken seriously.

Memory Leak Memory Leak Memory Leak...

games run smoother with any patch you give to us... Hell Yeah ! Thats true... glad to see that seems to know what you do...

but...

Memory Leak !!!

Should be priority Number 1 on "to do list"

The Old Closed Beta Version runs smooth a lot of games (with a lot of other errors & crashes ;-))... with the change to the newer Cry Engine Version, you get this memory leak into (however you do this)...

Status pre patch / change cry engine:

First Game (25 FPS playable), Second Game (15-10 FPS unplayable)... so, relog, play 1 match... relog play 1 match...

After the latest Patch (at the moment)

1. Game (30 FPS smooth & playable)
2. Game (20 FPS a little bit slow, playable)
3. Game (10 FPS playable but "argh")
4. Game... forget it...

I know its in some ways my old machine i am running, but other players i talked to (with old, but newer machines than mine), can do 5-10 games in a row before its unplayable, before doing the same process... "relog to play"

so "memory leak" still punches

fix it.. plssssss with a lot of sugar & honey, seems you are on the right way, but concentrate on it before adding more mechs & maps...

System Specs

Phenom 9850 Quad
4GB RAM Hard installed (3 GB RAM only used by OS)
XP (x86) 64bit mode
radeon HD 3870 X2

2 M/bit DSL asynchronous signal, europe/germany (ping ~150)

game settings

medium settings
1024x758

well, i cant even play now. i was marginally getting 15-20 FPS in game with spikes down to the low end fairly frequently, making heavy use of the User.cfg file. but now i just cant even deal with a jenner circling me. i get horrible FPS to the point i freeze up on my screen, then unfreeze and im either im so beat up its not funny or im dead.

it seems like the Config was turned off again? please turn it back on its really the only way i was getting to play. or, preferably optimize it for low end systems.

its just really frustrating trying to shoot someone strafing you and not even having a chance because of the game not being optimized for low end specs.
