Yep I'd ***** about Betty too. I understand the desire and attempt, but I'd like in the extreme to be able to turn her off entirely, not just turn the sound down but so that the system doesn't even add to tasks/lag for the client. Or and I'd guess this would be much more dev work have a series of checkboxes for which warnings are given .... I really don't need or want to know JJs are at 25% amongst a number of others I could really just do without especially when things get busy.

Betty's voice starts to stutter on a lot of occasions. I guess it's because too many messages have to be played at once (crit dmg, target aquisition and low ammo for example).

I don't know how to properly describe it, it just cracks. Doesn't finish what she wanted to say, but instead of switching to another message, just stops.

Still, a pleasure to hear it in combat. Puts so much more life onto the battlefield (apart from the shooting etc.). Best thing for ambience before we (maybe) get music.

I'm getting this as well - nearly making it unplayable especially with regards to the jumpjet sound cutting out and thinking I'm empty.. PLEASE hot fix :(

B. Betty interferes with the sounds and prevents me from localizing fire and attacks as I could pre-patch. Many times the sounds are "hiccuping".

Is there a way to turn off B. Betty?

Thank you.

Dialog volume should control her voice if you want to turn it down.

Its under the options now.

I would prefer having an option menu where i could choose what exact warnings i want Betty to tell me. I mean, i dont need to know, that i aquired new target when i am doing so :P

You are right. As mech-jockeys we should know what we are doing and I think the Betty is talking too much. There should be some info like incoming missile and maybe info that is not so easy to see. like how many heatsinks are left and so on. but anything else is too much.

Indeed, we need more Betty settings. There are a lot of warnings I would like to disable, I might even want to disable it entirely because it's getting on my nerves already.

Also, she speaks too sllllooooooowwwwwllllyyyyyy. Often the situation has already changed when she finally finishes her sentence.

I think the level of customisation we'd want for this would need to go in a .cfg file or something. I like the "big" alerts like missiles, base cap etc but i dont need to know when im out of JJ fuel :P

Also have noticed jumpjet sound effect distorted, not sure if its because of BB or something else. sometimes it wont play at all or very patchy.

Even turning her off hasn't fixed my other audio issues that have come up with this patch unfortunately.

This, We should be able to select precisely which issues Betty ******* about. I'm actively selecting targets....why do I need telling I'm doing that?

yes, she speaks too slowly. And btw, the sound effect when firing AMS, is working as intended ? its like r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r, its not fiting the game. more sounds like stutering to me.

The above.
I haven't even played after yesterdays patch. But i can already imagine a couple of messages i'd not like to hear. Like switchting targets, i do that alot at times.
I can't wait to hear my mech 'starting up' like in MW2. Reactor online, weps --> All systems nominal!
memories... memories.. Somehow so epic.

Hey,

After the recent patch the ugly sound crackling is back.
I had this before, but It was gone for a long while, so I assumed it was fixed, and I don't seem to be the only one experiencing it (have been asking around during games).

It its very disruptive and forces me to play with very low volume or without sound (which is no fun).

Things I tried so far (without luck):

- changing the samplerate
- changing the speaker settings (stereo, quad, 5.1 etc.)
- new clean sound driver install to make sure it's not the cause

My specs are:

I5-2500K @4ghz
16 gb ram
GTX-570
Xonar-D2 Audio
Windows 7 64bit

Any suggestions or workarounds are welcome.

I'm fairly certain this has to do with a combination of memory/cpu optimization and low spectrum audio saturation. Still haven had a chance to test how bad the saturation is here via software analyzer's but my ears + my studio monitors tell me it's not good.

I have this problem too, starting to be a really big problem with this new patch. before there was only sometimes a short period of sound stuttering on some maps at the beginning. but now it happens in every battle. fps rates are ok during this issue.

my specs:

I5-3450
8 gb ram
GTX-660
Realtek Audio
Windows 7 64bit

Happens for me, but sound seems to be "laggy", like a bad teamspeak connection. Sound and Betty voice are staggering and sometimes unhearable for some reason.

Happens a couple of times, in river city and maybe forest colony, dont know if its related.
Some LRM rain and gunfire, but not enough to "saturate" audio channels like what happened.

That's a pretty new bug for me, never experienced this before last patch.

After some further testing it seems to me that the issue is now worse then ever for me:

Earlier (in cb mostly) I only experienced crackling sounds (mostly with every footstep sound of the mech), now the sounds are sometimes also cut-off, as if there weren't enough channels to play them all simultaneously.

I hope devs are aware of it.. I love the game even with all it's current flaws, but this issue is driving me nuts :/
