We should have free roam on desiding team members are ineffective if so we should have a right to TK them out right.

The community is going soft. We need to restore what made Battletech good. The Eliteist mindset is sorely lacking in Pubs. If we went back to a more hardcore attitude the Pubs would improve quality of play. If we are given a chance to police the Pubs stop Suicide rushers,AFKers ect. This game would be better.

Wow, that sort of mindset back in the early 90's is why I only ever played in one game store sponsored battletech event.

If this type of minset was not found in so many of the players back then, the tabletop game may have done better, it may have gotten a larger player base, which may have made previous PC mechwarrior titles more successful, which would have meant we would have seen a new MW title in under a decade.

I'm guessing your bunker is very lonely despite your very friendly and personable nature.

Somewhat tired and surprise about the PUB contempt.

PUBs are the future of the game.
The will likely always be the majority of players.

A sizeable fraction of PUBs are members of teams going it on their own for a game for whatever reason. They are good players but aren't coordinated with teams because there's virtually no leadership for the PUBs in game--the most a PUB can usually hope for is a map icon, or a general direction--and often that doesn't even happen.

We really need VOIP in game. The Comstar server is often a ghost town, or a really really tiny part of the player base.

Or fail epically. See the history of FASA and BattleTech for a good example.

That mindset is what will make the game fail by driving away any potential new player base as well as a fair portion of casual players.

You realize this isn't your personal play-pen, right? As in, it's free-to-play, and they need a decent-sized player base to succeed? This game is already hard to pick up for newbies. Don't know if trolling or...

Here's a wonderful idea I just had, take screenshots of the mechs, print them out, cut them out of their paper, play with them.

You now have a team of as many as you have paper for, and it's all you.

So rather than spend time killing your enemy and winning, your killing your team, then getting stomped because half your team has been TK'd? Amazing tactic there, id love to see it in action.. :(

The less elitism coming from this community, the better. It's sad, no...disappointing, no...sickening the amount of contempt and holier-then-thou behavior that practically oozes from this community, of which you are a prime example. If anything were to kill this game, it would be that. It would be people like you.

The way to remedy a low player count is:

1 - Make the game more accessible (this does not mean 'dumbed down', just easier to pick up). This means tutorials, matchmaking against other low-skill players, and other things like that.
2 - Make the game more casual friendly (like it or not, there are going to be fewer and fewer 'hardcore' gamers in the future). This means low cost or free. This means that it doesn't require a huge amount of time to be spent on it. This means that it can be picked up, played for a few minutes, and put down.
3 - Cultivate a friendly community. People aren't going to stick around a bunch @ssholes, it's as simple as that.

Like it or not, a game has to be constantly pulling in new players to be able to survive, let alone succeed in any sense of the word

You BALANCE the game around the elites, but you focus on making the PUBs happy. PUBs are the financial blood of this series and, importantly, always have been.

Many of the hardcore BattleTech fans playing today started out having no knowledge beyond "big robots shoot each other" in MechWarrior 4.

That said, Phase 2 does need to hurry up. Phase 1 is burning folks out bad.

Like it or not. This game needs a true Elitist mindset in order to surive.

People who are against it are people who probably did not spend a dime on this game. I spend 200 dollars already.

I cautiously agree with the capt on this. obviously alienating new players isnt a viable solution and PGI would never do somthing like that anyway. but this is the first MechWarrior game in ten years. if the elitist MW nerds werent considered when making the game it could've been called "big robots shoot each other". Im ashamed to admit I played WoW at all, let alone for as long as I did, but constantly retuning a game to be more "casual friendly" is only a way to make money, not a good game. I have no doubt PGI is here to make money, but if keeping this a "good game" falls second to profits, then the game is already done.

I disagree. It needs a high level hardcore players to help drive and evolve the meta game and also need to appeal to the vast amount of pug players. Without those pug players your elitists would have no more game.

Also I have spent money and a game focuses solely on elites would die, very fast.

Everyone who plays this game should be good at it. anyone who isn't good should have their account taken away and beaten with a rubber chicken. furthermore! anyone who ask questions or is learning how to play should be berated because they didn't read the books or play the games at an early age like the best of us!
