Exactly what the title says. It's a Mechwarrior game. I think it should be a Mech only game, no aircraft/aerospace and no tanks or hovercraft like Mechwarrior Living Legends. I like the Elementals though.

So many combined arms units are in the lore. But the maps look like they are not very "open world"ish and flying in a 12km square isn't very immersive. I don't think we'll see them as playable, but we'll see them.

They've already said it'll be just mechs.

I do hope it will be more than just 6v6 tho :S....maybe 10v10 ;)!!!

or the classic 32 players in a game.

The basic game types proposed so far are 3lances vs 3 lances, so that's 12 vs 12.

I'm glad they won't have any flying vehicles. I played living legends and they seem to be untouchable for the most part. I wouldn't mind the Elementals since they can be killed in a single shot.

Sorry Brownie. While I DOUBT we will see tanks, hover tanks or airborne units as playable, especially at first, you can bet and I can almost gurantee we WILL see them as NPC's. Especially when it comes to Canon Battles where the LORE and CANON SAY they were there. Even in MechWarrior 2 they had aerospace fighters in the game. and ugh, even MW4 mercs and MW4 itself had the helos in it. So, yeah, expect to see them.

The last good Mechwarrior game I have played was Mechwarrior 2 and this game seems to be turning out to be just like it which is awesome!

They'd need to introduce a game mode where we would actually get NPCs.

From the FAQ:
Q. Will there be vehicular combat alongside Mechs for the players this time?

A. At the moment we are not following up with combined arms (tanks, hovercraft, jets etc.)


While not likely, and certainly not at release, they did leave the door open.

the only reason you like elementals in mwll is if you have such a ****** internet connection your lag warp makes you impossible to hit as a ba (theres a handfull of such ******** that play ba regularly)

Motionless, thing is, IIRC The clans DID use aerospace fighters, and when the invasion hits, it makes a HIGH chance we will see them. And dont the IS houses use helo's?

Yes, we are going to be apart of organizations that employ various equipment, including infantry and flying equipment. But that doesn't mean they're going to be apart of the game. Even Counter-Strike has NPCs, (hostages) but we haven't heard of a game mode that employs NPCs.

Er... most modern militaries have some sort of air force. Does that mean you're going to be seeing that air force in every single first person shooter?

Don't forget there is an abilty for command track players to call for an air strike already in the works so we will see aircraft as NPCs. However making them playeble is for a spin-off game and not for MWO itself. Personaly I would like Aerotech to be made as a future project as there is no space shooters that respect Newtonian Physics currently avalible.

<sigh> I am saying that the possibility for us to see airborne targets exists, even PGI left the door open for it. While I have no idea when we can expect to see it, I am not wholly discounting the idea as a 'not going to happen in MWO at all' type of conclusion.
